Job Description

The PAEA suite of exams are delivered to PA students at colleges and universities around the country over 80,000 times a year. We are looking for a project manager to join our growing Assessment team. The project manager will assist and advise subject matter experts to develop and maintain valid and well-constructed examination items, as well as coordinate with psychometricians and exam development partners to build and publish exam forms.

 

DESCRIPTION

 

The Project Manager, Assessment, serves as the primary contact to, and manages the activities of, the Association’s Exam Development Boards and other assessment-related volunteer workgroups, ensuring volunteer engagement and the development of high-quality exam items and testing products. Under the guidance of Assessment leadership and in collaboration with the Assessment team, this position helps to operationalize Assessment’s strategy, evaluate success, and engages in quality improvement to further promote rigorous exam development. This position is a non-supervisory position that reports to the Senior Director, Assessment and Psychometrician.

 

Because this position may be exposed to sensitive and confidential information on a daily basis, this individual is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality that knowledge of such warrants.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a remote position; the team member can be located anywhere in the U.S. May be asked to attend a conference or meeting two or three times a year.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in strategic planning of PAEA’s assessments.
    • Participates in the development of new products and services, and enhancements to existing products and services.
    • Represent the interests of volunteer leaders and other stakeholders in strategic planning about Association products and initiatives related to assessment.
  • Project manager for PAEA Assessment’s test development and publication, working with the assessment team on a regular basis.
    • Manage the daily operation of PACKRAT®, End of Rotation™, and End of Curriculum™ exam test development and publication.
    • Facilitate the successful execution of the annual exam production schedule, working with volunteers and external stakeholders as required.
    • Oversees PAEA’s operational relationship with the exam development partner and serves as the primary point of contact with the vendor.
    • Assist in the documentation and implementation of test development and publication-related policies and procedures.
  • Lead staff partner to the Exam Development Boards and other assessment-related volunteer groups.
    • Manage the membership, activities, and administrative requirements of the Exam Development Boards and other assessment-related volunteer groups.
    • Guide the development of volunteer project proposals to ensure appropriate prioritization and alignment with the PAEA’s strategic plan.
    • Identify resource needs for exam development volunteer projects and initiatives and assist with development and monitoring of the Exam Development Boards budget, including communicating resource needs to leadership.
    • Manage planning and implementation of the content of the Exam Development Summit.
    • Work with the Assessment Editor in Chief to develop and implement professional development, process improvement, and support for the Exam Development Board chairs and members.
  • Perform environmental scanning in the areas of project management, quality improvement, volunteer management, and assessment development to stay current on research and best practices to guide the Assessment team’s content development efforts.
    • Remain informed of trends in assessment to advise the PAEA Assessment team, vendors, and Exam Development Board members as necessary.
    • Represent the Association at conferences and professional events related to test development.

    • PMP strongly preferred
    • Experience in exam program management strongly preferred
    • Medical/clinical knowledge and terminology preferred
    • Association or board experience a plus
