Pharmacy Technician - Data Entry

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pharmacy Technician - Data Entry is responsible for entry and processing of medication orders into the pharmacy operating system. Pharmacy technicians are expected to have a positive attitude and work well in a team environment, must be dependable, possess a strong work ethic and have reliable attendance.

Essential Functions

· Data entry involves the entry and processing of medication orders via the pharmacy’s operating system which includes:

o Hand-written Physician Order Sheets and State Prescription Blanks

o Electronic Prescriptions

o Reorder Requests

o Phone Order Physician Sheets

· All tasks and duties must be completed in accordance and compliance with HIPPA guidelines, State and Federal laws, and current company policies and procedures.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a long-term care facility. This role may use standard office and/or pharmacy equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, rolling carts, fax machines and etc. A large portion of work shall be performed in the long-term care facility where the noise may be loud.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Must be willing to become registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of New Jersey within two weeks of joining

Previous Data Entry experience preferred

Long Term Care experience with Framework/DocuTrack knowledge a plus

Previous Retail Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy experience accepted

Knowledge of Brand Name/Generic medications and Sig codes

Moderate computer and typing skills required

Candidate must possess basic math skills

Physical Demand:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that should be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

· May sit up to eight (8) hours per day

· Must be able to type for majority if not all of the scheduled shift

· Must know or learn how to use dual monitors simultaneously

· The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role

Supervisory Responsibility

There is no supervisory responsibility for this position
