Job Description: Job Title: CMS (Contamination Management Systems) Applications Engineer Department: Sales Semi Reports to: Director of Sales - Semi FLSA Status: Exempt Last Updated: July 2021 SUMMARY Responsible for managing and supporting the technical business relationships with key customers and developing new opportunities with our key semiconductor accounts in relation to Contamination Management Systems (CMS) used in the fab contamination monitoring applications. Working with customers on daily support, troubleshooting, scheduling and completing preventive maintenance. Interfacing with the factory CMS team and the local Field Service supporting this equipment. This position is also responsible for supporting the key account managers with the technical integration, and continuous improvement of Pfeiffer Vacuum CMS equipment at target accounts. Provide ongoing high level applications and technical support across all CMS product lines to both the sales force and customers. Will oversee the development and implementation of numerous product trainings to both customer and Field Service. Work closely with sales, product management, market management and business development to promote Pfeiffer Vacuum products to existing and new/potential semiconductor customers. Provide regular updates of activity and prospects to sales management, market management, R&D, sales and business development. Duties Works closely with management, engineering, factory and after sales support professionals throughout the customers’ organization; identifying business opportunities, developing account strategies, preparing and making sales presentations; participating in technical meetings utilizing internal resources, negotiating contracts and managing technical projects.Reviews customer requirements and presents company products that will fill those needs.Work with applications teams and Sales Director to define sales plans and system strategy.Develop/promote existing systems tools among customers and sales engineers.Identify/drive new tool applications and evaluationIdentfy/develop new business in potential and current customer organizations.Analyze competitor market penetration and new product release.Analyze US market for Contamination Management.Identifies areas for improvement with Pfeiffer Vacuum CMS products at key accounts and designs/implements the necessary actions to complete.Performs thorough technical evaluations of failed CMS components or products through the factory or OEM supplier.Through in-depth knowledge of the industry, technology and the company’s CMS products, is able to assist both sales and customers in defining suitable CMS products and configurations needed for their specific applications.Provides applications and technical sales support to key accounts at the direction of the Semi Sales management. Provides mentoring to the FSE Teams to help advance their technical product and application knowledge on the CMS equipment.Organizes and provides CMS product training programs for the sales force and customer base through the involvement of Factory CMS product managers and applications engineers.Works with Marketing, R&D, Product and Sales Management to define new products that support our customers’ technical requirements.Reviews customer requirements and presents company CMS products that will fill those needs.Identifies new applications/opportunities to help gain market share at assigned customers.Coordinates new product introductions. Arranges for product demonstrations, training events and/or other activities that promote the understanding of company products for customers. Submits status reports regarding current projects and new opportunities as defined by management. Communicates with other departments, factory and customers to ensure satisfactory customer support. Helps the Semi Sales Team meet established sales quotas and revenue goals.Responsible for supporting Field Service on all failed components and preventive maintenance as needed. May assist with special studies in areas such as operational effectiveness, capacity utilization, cost containment, etc.Attend all trainings and meetings as required. The person in this job must be able to travel by air, at times overseas, and drive to customer locations with little to no notice as needed. Qualifications Strong organizational and creative problem solving skills as well as good planning and technical equipment troubleshooting skills required. Knowledge of company CMS products is plus. Experience in performing technical training is required. 5-10 years of related experience with Semiconductor fab contamination control equipment or environment monitoring is highly desired. Basic understanding of computer networking, programming and repair will be beneficial. Education and/or Experience Requires B.S./B.A. degree, preferably in Engineering; M.S preferred, and a minimum of 5 years of experience within the Semiconductor industry. In-depth knowledge of Semiconductor fab contamination control equipment or environment monitoring is highly recommended. Knowledge of company related products in CMS technology is a plus. Language Skills The ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing is essential. Reports, email correspondence, schedules, and performance reviews are all typical requirements of this position and must be effectively and professionally communicated. This position serves as a key liaison between the customer and the company and must articulate critical needs, issues, situations, and plans to keep customer satisfaction high. Mathematical Skills Superior math skills required. The individual should be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, statistics, and margins, etc. and able to analyze results in order to make recommendations to management. Strong knowledge of the mathematics that supports the industry is essential in order to provide technical assistance and expertise as required. Reasoning Ability Must be able to multi task and operate in a fast paced environment while maintaining a disciplined approach to oversee major customers’ needs. The ability to understand the customers’ requirements and plan the support strategy is essential. Must be able to solve both practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of factors in situations where only limited standardization exists. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Both a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are required at the time of hire and periodically thereafter.
