This position is NOT in the health care industry. We are a nuclear waste management company. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel and visitors, the plant, and the local environment in accordance with the Radiation Protection Program. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
Provides radiological control functions including the monitoring of surface, airborne contamination and dose rate work areas. Takes radiological surveys for posting, release of equipment and materials, environmental sampling, and routine control program surveillance for radiological characterization.
Duties include but are not limited to: perform daily surveys, work in count lab, and perform personnel monitoring for radiation exposure, contamination and air monitoring. Practice good ALARA skills and follow safety rules and postings. Must be able to wear respiratory protection (includes fit test and physical).
Competitive benefits package. Starting pay is $20 per hour with qualification program in place (reaching the final level is $35 per hour).
One year of nuclear experience or equivalent education in the nuclear field is required. Knowledge of DOT, State and Federal regulations desirable. Advanced training and/or equivalent experience in gamma/alpha spectroscopy desirable.
