Customer Service Specialist

A Customer Service Specialist is needed to support the Pentagon Customer Assistance Center (PCAC), which is an office near the main entrance that provides general assistance to guests and employees. The PCAC also acts as the starting point for special event and space requests (ceremonies, holiday parties, poster displays, etc.). This position includes both customer assistance and special events service. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Greeting military and civilian customers in person and over the phone in a respectful manner
  • Providing accurate directions around the Pentagon and grounds
  • Searching for phone numbers and room numbers for customers
  • Providing and collecting temporary wheelchairs for employees and guests
  • Creating service orders in Maximo for each customer interaction
  • Creating, updating, and verifying the scheduling status of special events
  • Assisting customers in selecting the proper venue for their event
  • Instructing customers on how to complete the permit paperwork required for their event
  • Coordinating with the Fire Marshall, Security Forces, & Building Manager to approve the permit
  • Providing verbal and written communication throughout the entire permit approval process
  • Maintaining a clean, sharp, and professional appearance at all times


  • Possession of current DoD CAC
  • At least one year working with organization of same stature as the Department of Defense
  • At least one year experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, & Access)
  • Exceptionally strong multitasking, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Have the required ability to walk long distances indoors and outdoors, and to navigate stairs in order to inspect the special event venues and place signage within the facility grounds


  • Experience creating service tickets in Maximo
  • Prior position at the Pentagon with familiarity of the layout
  • Prior military experience with knowledge of command structures and protocols
  • Prior experience creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Education Preferred:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree
