Staff Accountant - Temp - 2+ Months - San Rafael - $32.21 - $37.30/hour
Wonderful opportunity to work as the right hand to a supportive and engaged CFO in this Staff Accountant temporary role. Assisting with a mix of general accounting and payroll coordination activities as well as special projects, you will be making an impact in the nonprofit sector where the end goal is collective success.
- Duration: ASAP for a few months, with the possibility of being hired on
- Schedule: Full or Part-time, 32-40 hours per week
- Location: Onsite, with the possibility of working from home occasionally
You will:
- Maintain and update accounting records and files.
- Reconcile bank statements.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and tax returns.
- Assist with month-end activities.
- Monitor accrual-based monthly journal entries.
- Track departmental budget vs actual entries.
- Review and verify timesheets for accuracy.
- Record payroll transactions in the general ledger.
- Support 403b match and annual compliance testing.
- Ensure timely compensation and communication to staff before pay runs.
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 2+ years of general accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (preferably Sage Intacct).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for translating complex concepts.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Efficient work style to meet deadlines under pressure.
