We are looking for a General Clerk for our Newport News, VA office.
This position uses some subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence. The General Clerk III selects from alternative methods and refers problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures. Typical duties include: assisting in a variety of administrative matters; maintaining a wide variety of financial or other records (stored both manually and electronically); verifying statistical reports for accuracy and completeness; compiling information; and handling and adjusting complaints.
What you'll do...
The General Clerk III may also direct lower level clerks. Such positions require use of a thorough knowledge of an office's work and routine to: 1) choose among widely varying methods and procedures to process complex transactions; and 2) select or devise steps necessary to complete assignments.Performs varied clerical duties in support of site operations. Some subject-matter knowledge is required, but the clerk must to choose the proper procedure for each task. This position requires familiarity with the terminology of the office unit. Selects appropriate methods from a wide variety of procedures or makes simple adaptations and interpretations of a limited number of substantive guides and manuals. The clerical steps often vary in type or sequence, depending on the following tasks:
+ Data entry into Infor EAM.
+ Reviews data in Infor EAM for accuracy and prepares reports regarding review findings.
+ Updates Program CDRL data for recurring contract deliverables.
+ Assists Program Management Office (PMO) personnel with update of policies, procedures and tracking contract deliverables.
+ Completes a variety of recurring and non-recurring clerical/administrative tasks as assigned.
+ Assists all Program functional areas with data entry inputs, document printing, organization of documentation and tracking task status as directed
+ Assists Program Control Center as required.
+ Operates basic office equipment, e.g., photocopier, facsimile, multi-line phone/voicemail systems.
+ Coding and filing documents in an extensive alphabetical file.
+ Organization of electronic and paper documentation.
+ Uses own judgment in choosing the proper procedure for each task.
+ Some travel may be required.
+ Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

+ You have a High School Diploma (required). Some college preferred.
+ You are able to lift up to 50 lbs, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.
+ Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas.Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices.
+ Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published company work rules.
+ You are able to obtain/retain Certifications as assigned.
+ You have at least 2+ years' of directly related work experience.
+ You have excellent organizational skills, as well as excellent verbal and communication skills.
+ You have Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Project).
+ You have successfully completed Background Investigation with a Favorable Suitability Determination.

+ Have demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with peers, site management and the Government customer (preferred).
+ Have experience with Infor EAM, CONCUR, UltiPro, Skillport and Deltek (preferred).
+ This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a position of public trust. In order to obtain this position, you must currently be a U.S. Citizen and U.S. Resident and be able to show proof of citizenship and residency.
