Project Engineer

Scope of Position
The Project Engineer will report to the VP of Engineering & Bus. Dev. and work alongside other project engineers to share the workload between residential structural remediations. The engineer filling this position will primarily be responsible for providing final analyses, drawings, and reports for residential design, inspection, and consulting services.Prior experience in this sector of engineering is preferred.In addition, the position will design, draft, specify, and inspect steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) slabs.The individual filling this position should have a strong understanding of concrete principles, mix designs, structural member design, and ACI best practices.Any prior knowledge of SFRC or other fiber-reinforced concrete applications is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Residential Engineering Services
- Primary clients will be foundation repair contractors
- Review field notes, understand code requirements, and analyze proposed remediations
- Coordinate with a draftsman, perform calculations, and finalize reports
- Responsible for completing approx. 6-12 residential reports per day as demand requires and proficiency is developed
- Perform site inspections on NC and SC as required by clients
- Develop and implement tools to improve efficiencies
- Communicate effectively with construction contractors
- Be available to answer contractor calls and modify as field conditions require
- Maximum 5-day turnaround on projects
- Specialty Slab Design & Coordination
- Develop construction joint layouts and slab designs for draftsman and salesman
- Review and approve the takeoff provided from the draftsman
- Develop process methodologies and improvements
- Develop design spreadsheets, software, and tools
- Build finite element and engineering models to support design calculations
- Complete design calculations and construction drawings for secured projects
- Visit the sites and confirm installation per drawings
- Communicate effectively with non-technical clients
- Research & Development
- Testing plans for each job
- Develop new slab/concrete technologies
- Additional Industrial, Commercial, & Residential Consulting Services
- Provide engineering services as opportunities allow
- Additional engineering work with existing company clients
- Develop methodologies, processes, and details to efficiently pursue work
- Ensure all engineering is in accordance with the proper code requirements
- Other/Misc. as directed by VP of Engineering & Bus. Dev.

- Ability & willingness to adjust schedule and priorities as directed by supervisor
Work Environment
- Office environment primarily (>75%)
- Travel to job sites, warehouse, conferences, training, etc. (<25%)
- Some hybrid work from a home office may be possible at the managers discretion
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of related engineering work experience
- 1 to 2 years of concrete experience
- Industrial, commercial, and/or residential design and/or consulting services preferred

- Hilti Profis
- Bluebeam/Revu
- Ideal Additional Software Experience
- Programming (VBA, Python, C++, Etc.)
- Finite Element Softwares (RFEM, Abaqus, Ansys, Etc.)
- Structural Design (STAAD, SAP 2000, ETABS, RAPT, RAM Concept, Etc.)
- RISA 3D
- Exposure to practical design matters such as feasibility, constructability, budget, and production efficiencies
- Demonstrated a commitment to integrity, ethics, and truthfulness
Education & Licensure
- BS in Civil Engineering (Emphasis Structural) is required
- Passed the FE Exam
- Ability to obtain PE licensure within 2 years
