Within the identified roles of Practitioner, Teacher and Leader, the staff Registered Nurse provides collaborative and comprehensive care based on patient and/or family needs. The staff Registered Nurse implements and evaluates care delivery based on predicted outcomes while anticipating potential responses provides assessment, treatment and care throughout the hospital and outlying clinics. The staff Registered Nurse will practice in accordance with all regulatory, professional, legal and hospital policies. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the Core Value’s and the hospitals mission statement. The Staff Registered Nurse works independently under limited supervision directly reporting to the Unit/Department Supervisor, Director of Assistant Vice President. LOCATION / GEOGRAPHY:

High Desert Region of the Mojave Desert in southern California just north of the San Gabriel, San Bernardino and Little San Bernardino Mountains. Elevation is generally between 2,000 feet (610 m) and 4,000 feet (1,200 m). Towns and cities in the High Desert Region include Adelanto, Apple Valley. Helendale, Hesperia, Lucerne Valley, Oak Hills, Ore Grande, Phelan, Pinon Hills, and Victorville. The Town of Apple Valley is the center point of the region: 92 miles tom Los Angeles; 89 miles to Irvine; 57 miles to Ontario and 47 miles to San Bernardino.

Summers are hot, arid, and mostly clear and the winters are cool and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 35°F to 97°F and is rarely below 26°F or above 104°F. Average daily high temperature in January is around 68°F

A high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment and techniques.

Advanced analytical skills necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care.

Has the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians and others.

Has the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.

Understands the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.

Has the ability to work independently, take initiative and be self-motivated.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications/Minimum:

Education - High school diploma or equivalent and/or required work experience.

Experience - Minimum of 2 years in a hospital environment preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.

Basic knowledge of nursing procedures.

Ability to troubleshoot basic nursing and unit specific equipment.

Demonstrates competencies in IV initiation and management¨

License / Certification - Current California Registered Nurse License by evidence of Primary Source Verification. Current BLS and other certifications and training specific to unit requirements.

Related Competencies: Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of patient’s status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department. Applicable Neonate (birth–28 days); Infant (28 days–1 year); Child (1-12 years); Adolescent (13-18 years); Adult (18-64 years); Geriatrics (65 years–death).

Non-negotiable requirements on this position?

Associate degree or equivalent and/or required work experience.

Previous ER experience, 2+ years preferred.

Current California Registered Nurse License - BLS and ACLS certifications required, PALS within 6 months of hire

COMPENSATION:

Pay - $42.56 to $66.49 per hour

Additional variable compensation - Union facility-rates based upon experience, annual certification bonus based upon specialty, shift differentials
