Our client is a start-up Cannabis company focused on wellness for Pain, Stress, and Sleep. They are seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and experienced marketing leader to join their team! The ideal candidate has experience executing 360° marketing campaigns and has a deep executional understanding and passion for performance marketing. This person should be well versed in digital marketing, paid media, brand marketing, data analytics, and project management. This person is a people person and natural collaborator, a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth, results-oriented environment.

 

They are looking for a highly organized, agile, and motivated Director of Digital Marketing to lead digital marketing programs from strategy to execution. The ideal candidate possesses a strong entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is excited to play a pivotal role in evolving and accelerating growth and retention efforts.

 

This position requires the ability to conceptualize, strategize, plan, and implement proven fundamental brand, social/digital, and content marketing practices and seek ways to innovate with new ideas. It is essential that the successful candidate be able to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect with peers, subordinates, business partners, and management across the business.

 

The ideal candidate is a passionate, growth oriented, and analytical marketing leader who can grow with the organization as they continue to scale.

 

This is a unique opportunity to join a company at a pivotal stage and participate in shaping its future success. Since the team is small initially, you must be both a strategic leader and someone that loves to execute and get their hands dirty. The critical role reports to the Founder/CEO and works closely with the Chief Product Officer.

 

You will be employee #3 at this early-stage startup that is fundraising for seed funding. They have a complete business plan with investor pitches.

 

This is a contract-to-hire role anticipated to go for approximately three months and can convert to FT employment when funding is received. You will work on a consulting basis either PT or FT then based on mutual agreement convert to full-time employment.

 

As the Director, Digital Marketing, your daily duties will include:

  • Overall responsibility for the company's entire digital and social media strategy during a period of significant growth
  • Developing strategic briefs defining customer targets, goals, and objectives
  • Researching, identifying and recommending new growth strategies
  • Building, planning, and implementing an integrated digital marketing strategy
  • Designing and executing a plan that leverages all channels with both paid and organic campaigns
  • Creating engaging content through email, digital and social channels
  • Writing and editing copy. Oversee all consumer-facing content
  • Ensuring brand message is strong and consistent across all channels
  • Overseeing daily operations of campaigns running on major platforms
  • Identifying and managing relationships with influencers
  • Analyzing KPI's to drive the overall strategy
  • Ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for channels/mediums including online, social media, email, mobile, video, print and in-person.
  • Staying up to date with the latest technology and best practices
  • Researching the competition, investigate benchmarks and provide suggestions for improvement
  • Owning the development of eCommerce and D2C experiments
  • Identifying opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share
  • Developing key metrics and deliver insights about business performance, establish forecasts, and communicate progress
  • Developing strategic briefs defining customer targets, goals, and objectives

As the Director, Digital Marketing, your background should include:

  • BS/BA in marketing, quantitative, analytics-related fields or equivalent
  • Eager to work with founding executive team to build a company from start-up to maturity
  • Minimum of 5+ years in high-growth, D2C e-commerce company, e-commerce, or consumer marketplace; hyper-growth, innovation-focused company
  • Demonstrable experience of working successfully in an equivalent role in a D2C.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders including freelancers
  • Proactive, strategic, collaborative, implementation-focused, and ready to roll up your sleeves and make an impact right away
  • Professional etiquette and exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Strong writing skills and ability to translate customer needs into meaningful value propositions & core messaging
  • Presentation development skills and an eye for design
  • Fluency with content best practices and ability to create and distribute engaging, on-brand, effective content across different channels.
  • Expertise in core business tools (Microsoft suite including PPT and Excel, project management tools, and Google Analytics platforms)
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Passionate and serious about goals and doesn’t let ego get in the way of collaborative team effort and ultimate success.
  • Proficient in English language for written and verbal communications. Must be an excellent team player.
  • Past entrepreneurs with startup experience preferred

 

This company is founded by two women entrepreneurs who have successfully collaborated previously. They are a destination for natural drugs. They have an in-house manufacturing facility and distribution center. The revenue for 2020 is $175,000+ with a return customer rate of 25%. They are New York based and founded,100% Women owned Small Business, proprietary formulations, excusive relationships with the best brands and world class advisors with experience winning licenses and owning and operating cannabis businesses.

 

Work Location: Fully Remote US Based.  Company is in NYC
