We're looking for a Software Architect to grow our dynamic and growing team to bring this innovation to market.

Role Summary:

The Software Architect at Smart Dxs will work closely with the product, client, scientific, cloud and engineering teams with direct responsibilities for the overall technology roadmap, enterprise application architecture and application experiences. The position requires deep knowledge and experience with cloud technology, modern services architectures and leading industry standards as well as solid design and coding skills. The Software Architect will establish and maintain technology standards, evaluate new technologies and select appropriate innovations to provide competitive advantage. This role requires a team player who is well versed in large scale commercial software development, organized, detail oriented and able to deliver results on-time and within budget.

Our needs are incredibly diverse ranging from building enterprise architecture, microservices, robotics, machine learning, and mobile solutions to create a powerful, seamless experience for our users. Deep expertise not required in all of them today...but must be willing and committed to learning the areas where you lack depth.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Enterprise Software Platform
    • Design the overall software platform for our business that brings together our unique scientific capabilities while maintaining flexibility and extensibility to enable future opportunities
    • Leverage AWS and cloud-native capabilities to build solutions that are secure, scalable, cost-efficient and reliable
    • Strong preference for serverless architectures leveraging AWS Lambda, SNS, AWS IoT, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, and other key services
    • Integration of AWS SageMaker to leverage machine learning for scalable, reliable analysis of large-scale data sets
  • Enterprise software integrations
    • Design interfaces between our solutions and existing and/or brand new enterprise application servers and applications
    • Implement web services that are optimized around our mobile app usage patterns
  • Robotic automation
    • Use robotic arm (or similar devices) automate lab workflow
    • Design integrations with cloud-native application architecture
    • Ideally, experience with ROS-enable device platforms (ROS, MoveIt, Gazebo, etc)
  • Requirements Management (both Functional and Non-Functional)
    • Solicit and understand user needs and stories
    • Identify and/or clarify key areas of technical necessity and product priorities (security, cost, performance, scalability, etc...)

Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience leading a group of internal and/or partner software engineering teams through the completion of all phases of major projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills -- ability to communicate effectively with various levels of executives
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of current state of cloud technologies, upcoming innovations, and translate them into real-world software solutions
  • Demonstrated technical expertise across a variety of technology platforms and solutions
  • 5+ years experience as a software architect with demonstrated experience in enterprise software, cloud architecture, serverless, and mobile solutions
  • 2+ years experience as a leader working with internal development teams
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or similar
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to influence others, build relationships, and work effectively with others in the organization
  • Excellent client management skills (communication, influencing, listening, adaptability, partnering skills)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative and iterative development environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation
