Job Description

 Credit/Collections Representative

Required Function 1:
Coordinates collection of delinquent customer accounts and reviews customer credit limits to support maximum sales with minimum risk. Performs the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
● Ensure company adherence to corporate credit policies and procedures for consistent handling of credit matters to maintain good customer relations.
● Research credit applications and notify customers of approval/disapproval status.
● Document pertinent credit information in accordance with company procedures.
● Establish credit limits for new customers and monitor accounts based on current financial information, business history, and current credit reports.
● Maintain credit records in an organized manner.
● Respond to credit reference inquiries with pertinent credit information in accordance with company procedures.
● Initiate, track, and maintain all records/files associated with collection activities for each account to include negotiated payment schedules, telephone call documentation, and collection letters.
● Ensure company adherence to credit policies and procedures for consistent handling of collection matters to maintain good customer relations.
● Maintain accurate customer information in appropriate databases according to company procedures.
● Review unapplied cash reports, and work with customers to apply payments accurately.
● Research invoice discrepancies and short-payments to accurately process, issue, and post-credits/debits to customer accounts as necessary.
● Assist in month closing by assuring all appropriate information is data entered into computer and review and update the current aging report for discrepancies and adjustments and/or write-offs.
● Generate electronic copies of permanent accounts receivable reports as required, such as accounts receivable agings.

● Education and/or Experience - Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, financial reports, general legal documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the general public. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
● Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.
● Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
● Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
● Other Skills and Abilities - Ability to perform investigative and research tasks.
● Other Qualifications - General knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
