REPORTS TO: Director, Software Development

POSITION LOCATION: Indianapolis

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a candidate passionate about problem solving, technology, and software development. Having an interest in sports, live events, or motorsports will certainly add to job satisfaction, but is not required. The Business Solutions team supports and develops many high-profile websites and critical internal applications. This exciting position includes improving, modernizing, and planning for future commercialization of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s internal home-grown ticket sales platform. The hybrid cloud platform is currently composed of SQL databases, Rest APIs, batch jobs, and multiple user interfaces. This position will work in coordination with Ticketing, Marketing, Accounting, Credentials and Premium Services departments to shape the future of the platform. The role will have exposure to many new cloud technologies, JavaScript frameworks, and traditional .Net technologies.

The role will be responsible for working with a team to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing software applications in support of ticket sales, credentialing, and parking sales. This includes coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The applicant needs to be comfortable understanding business challenges and proposing solutions to those challenges A great candidate has experience with C#, and e-commerce or payment processing. A genuine interest in technology and desire to continually learn more is required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Responsible for participating in agile ceremonies including daily scrums, sprint planning, etc.
  • Create and maintain efficient, productive, and scalable applications and solutions for business processes
  • Identify broken, outdated, and inefficient business processes
  • Responsible for supporting all phases of the software development life cycle. Including testing and production support.
  • Writing secure code and always being focused on security implications and risks of new applications
  • Working extended hours during the Month of May
  • Training and self-taught skills enhancement

QUALIFICATIONS:

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree from accredited college/university in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or similar program

Skills/Experience

  • 2-8 years of experience in professional software development position
  • Proficient in C# .Net or similar object-oriented development
  • Excellent communication skills, organization skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to adjust and set priorities to meet deadlines and needs of clients
  • High integrity and confidentiality
  • Experience with Vue.js and Web API development preferred not required
  • Experience with ASP .Net and Entity Framework development preferred not required

Travel/Work Hours

  • No regular travel required; Flexibility and adaptability are key skills needed for this role. This position has some flexibility to work from home.
