Position Summary:
Penn Foster is on a mission to enhance the lives of our students by providing them with education that can help them work towards their career goals. We are looking for an experienced Front-End Developer that can help us create, refine and code several of our websites.
As a Front-End Developer, you will be a part of a team that is dedicated to the ongoing development and quality assurance of our websitesusing multiple coding languages (HTML, CSS, Javascript, React and PHP). In this role, you will take the designs created by web designers and work closely with back-end development in the successful launch of websites and applications.
Under the direction of the Front-End Manager, you will also work closely with internal creative, marketing, and technology teams to enhance the online customer experiences and promote business. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a highly visible role and demonstrate your track record to lead, influence and persuade a complementary team of talented technology professionals, while building and cultivating a strong and trusted partnership with our senior business leaders
Essential Job Functions:
Write clean, maintainable, scalable front-end codefor the website
Create new components and page templates, as well as modify existing components and page templatesfor the website
Produce, maintain and modify websites and user interfaces
Incorporate applications, graphics, audio and video into our websites
Work closely with web designers and other marketing team members to enhance our design system
Work closely with our business analyst and project manager to review stories and provide descriptive tasks and levels of effort on projects
Ensure our websites are accessible across many platforms, including laptops and smartphones
Optimize page loading times by working with SEO on core vitals
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Well-versed in vanilla JS(ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, Flexbox, SCSS, Responsive Design
Knowledge of front-end performance best-practices and optimization techniques
Understanding of accessibility best-practices and knowledge of WCAG2.X standards (Semantic HTML, ARIA, etc.)
Comfortable working with multiple developers and utilizing version control tools (Git, GitHub)
Familiarity with configuring and working with front-end build tools (Gulp, Webpack, Babel, etc.)
Familiarity with NPM / NodeJS, and package management best-practices
Comfortable de-bugging CSS and JS issues
Experience working with Sitecore (or other CMS) is a plus
Experience working with, creating, and maintaining a design system is a plus
Ability to translate creative assets (Figma / Adobe XD) into working prototypes
Mindful of cross-browser compatibility and supporting multiple browsers (Chrome, Fire Fox, Safari, etc.)
Demonstrable problem solving and organizational abilities
Self-starter and ability to meet project deadlines
Ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
Fantastic time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
