Summary
Payomet Performing Arts Center seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will hold a key leadership role in this progressive performing arts organization. Payomet’s programming is seasonal and for that reason, this position is part-time/flex-time.

Compensation: $65k-$70k annually, pro-rated to schedule, commensurate with experience.

Chief Operating Officer Responsibilities
The Chief Operating Officer supports the organization in synching the strategic vision with staffing and budget in order to realize Payomet’s full potential as a leading presenter of performing arts in Southeastern Massachusetts. The COO serves as primary liaison to the National Park Service (NPS), Payomet's landlord and philanthropic partner at Highlands Center, North Truro. The COO manages the activities of the organization in regards to strategies, plans, policies, and objectives established in conjunction with the President and the Executive Director, as approved by the Board of Directors. The COO works closely with the CFO in implementing short- and long-term budgets and creating cash flow statements.
The COO has authority and responsibility for Payomet operations with a goal of sustainability in service of the organization's mission and vision. The COO reports to both the President and Executive Director.
The COO will play a key role in working with the President, Executive Director, Building Committee and Project Manager for any future planned capital expansion project in conjunction with NPS guidelines and expectations.
The COO’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operations, including oversight & implementation of the following:
Safety Procedures and Programs
Production Procedures
Facilities Maintenance
Parking & Show Management Standard Operating Procedures
Inventory
Volunteer programs and services
Liaison with the National Park Service (NPS):
Periodic meetings with NPS
Responding to requests by the NPS in a timely fashion
Rapid communication and reporting to the Board, the Board President, and Executive Director in all meetings and NPS business.
Outreach to local communities and policymakers
The COO will share in the executive leadership and help to facilitate transitions and smooth succession of staff and board to ensure sustainability.
Ideal skills, experience, and qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experiences, and attributes:
Experience working with non-profit organizations
At least five years management-level experience or equivalent experience with financial management
Strong background in budgeting, financial planning, and business planning
Strong leadership and relationship-management skills; someone who works well with staff, board, and external partners
Strong attention to detail
The ability to work in a highly flexible, collaborative work environment
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, and Slack
