Dog Groomer

Pawsability Dog Club Inc. is located in Bushwick, Brooklyn. We provide excellent daycare and grooming services for our adorable dog clients!

Pawsability Dog Club is searching for an experienced groomer to join our fabulous team in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Pawsability is a dog daycare and grooming facility located in a stunning, newly built facility. We have a spacious grooming room equipped with a large bath, grooming table, advanced dryers, a modern kenneling system and plenty of supplies.

We are seeking a Groomer that will provide top-quality care for clients from the initial dog intake, throughout their groom, to client pick-up and client-outreach to encourage recurring grooms. The groomer will have full use of the grooming space when on-site and will be expected to maintain that space in an organized, sanitary manner.

What sets Pawsability apart from other facilities is that we are a mission-driven organization; in addition to services for our furry clients, we host a free 7-week job training program for autistic adults interested in learning about the pet care industry. We love involving our groomer in the training program (e.g., teaching Trainees basic bathing & grooming skills) but we are always respectful of the groomer’s time and space when working with multiple dogs.

Required skills:

• 3 or more years of dog grooming experience and preferably cats
• Strong experience working with dogs of all breeds and sizes; Cat grooming is a plus
• Strong knowledge of dog breeds
• Knowledge of canine characteristics as well as grooming techniques styles
• Exceptional time management
• Excellent grooming skills
• Ability to bathe and groom dogs without assistance
• Experience with all grooming equipment (dryers, combs, blades, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be an animal lover
• Must be able to demat

Job responsibilities:

• Responsible for the safety and cleanliness of pets
• Keep the grooming area clean and organized
• Able to complete up to 6-8 or more grooms/baths a day
• Communicate with receptionist about appointment dates and time
• Provide high quality grooming services with little supervision
• Communicate directly with clients before and after appointments to learn specific instructions and to gather client feedback
• Communicate all issues or concerns with clients and receptionist that could affect the care, health, and behavior of the dog/cat
• Must be able recognize and alert staff of any possible medical concerns
• Must must be able to lift 50 lbs and use proper lifting techniques when placing animals on grooming table
• Use proper restraint and technique to calm animal
• Able to understand grooming cut techniques
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Compensation

• 50% commission

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Saturday
