Position Title: Staff Accountant
Reports To: Senior Accountant
FLSA Designation: Non-exempt
SUMMARY: Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements; and clerical support to the Accounting Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains accounting documents and storage unit.
Keys daily worksheets to the general ledger system.
Compiles account payable checks and delivers appropriately.
Enters invoices for payment.
Prepares sales tax submission, cash, sales, end-of-month and gaming reports.
Maintains and audits records for Corporate ATM machines.
Maintains and reconciles accounts for fuel purchases and bank accounts.
Reconciles AP accounts.
Supervises monthly and quarterly inventory counts for retail locations.
Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; verifying data.
Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; reconciling accounts.
Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general educational degree (GED) and at least two (2) years accounting work and/or training required. BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting preferred. Basic computer skills to include a working knowledge of word processing and databases required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to obtain a key gaming license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees, patrons, management, and directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Accounting, reporting, deadline-oriented, time management, attention to detail, and productivity. Maintain professional behavior and possess exceptional customer and employee service skills at all times.
