Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Sales for their award winning Extended Stay property in Duluth, MN

Job Overview: As the Director of Sales, your role is essential to the success of the Company. That success depends upon the ability of the Director of Sales to interact constructively in community activities, creating strong positive community relationships and possess the ability to implement productive sales and marketing strategies that accurately reflect and enhance the hotel image in the community.

Key Job Functions:

  • Provides courteous and hospitality at all times
  • Greets guests, addressing any questions about the hotel/community, delivering on the Company and Brand Hospitality promise
  • Develops detailed sales and marketing objectives for improving hotel performance
  • Effectively builds a positive image for the hotel in the community and marketing techniques
  • Takes advantage of sales opportunities to improve hotel operations and performance. Makes Sales Calls, meets with potential clients, and corporate accounts to win their business
  • Provides accurate and timely information to the GM and management relating to sales activities
  • Understands the market and sales opportunities and develops plans to increase sales for the hotel
  • Works with GM and hotel staff to increase the service and quality of the hotel to drive sales
  • Sales P&L Responsibility
  • Ensure that group requirements are in place as requested and in timely manner
  • Stays current with the market, and adapts marketing and sales plans as necessary
  • Partners with GM to ensure rate strategy current and market appropriate
  • Keeps abreast of community events that may produce revenue such as conventions, athletic events, community events, etc..
  • Effectively markets the hotel through various sales and marketing techniques
  • Completes monthly Market Share Report

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years hotel sales experience, preferably in the extended stay segment
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, or IHG family of brands preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective in developing community and company relationships to drive hotel sales
  • Able to partner with hotel leadership to deliver upon brand and customer promise
  • Must be keenly aware of market including trends and competition
