As part of the Data & Analytics team, the Data Analyst will drive the development of Analytics solutions in support of Patra’s strategic initiatives.   This individual will work closely with divisions throughout the organization to develop and implement strategies that leverage data to enable enhanced decision making.  The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and communication skills, as well as proven experience in analytics and generating insights that have a material impact on financial performance.

Core Duties 

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing insights
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Prototyping the development of databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Design and build comprehensive reports/dashboards and other tools to assist business managers in making business decisions
  • Support the enterprise data warehouse in identifying and revising reporting requirements
  • Train end users on new reports and dashboards
  • Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data
  • Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality (e.g. data governance)
  • Collaborate with engineers, business SMEs and IT team members on project goals

Minimum Requirements - Education & Experience 

  • BS in Economics, Finance, Computer Science or Statistics
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data analytics
  • Master’s Degree in a quantitative field preferred
  • P&C insurance and consulting experience preferred
  • Proven work experience as a data analyst with the ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Ability to create content rich and concise data visualization outputs for easy consumption by business users
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large datasets, structured and semi-structured data formats
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with BI tools (e.g. Tableau) and databases (e.g. SQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Understanding of star/snowflake schemas as general data warehousing methodologies (i.e. Kimball)
  • Ability to deliver incremental value via an Agile Development Methodology
