Job Description

Under the supervision of the Summer Camp Coordinator, the Health Services Leader will assist in the overall administration and oversight of health services for campers within the summer camp program. The major responsibilities of this position include the following but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

Provide medical care to clients and Ranch employees as needed (including health assessments and medication administration according to standing orders)
Serve as the medical liaison between Pathfinder Ranch and clients
Maintain accurate medical records and logs
Continuously evaluate health and safety policies and procedures and provide feedback to the Program Manager for potential changes to manuals and staff trainings
Help train and monitor other program employees to ensure adherence of policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with camp policies, accreditation standards, and health and safety codes
Participate in weekly program meetings to communicate medical-related updates
Aid in creating and enforcing risk management procedures
Assist with emergency response procedures in case of an alarm or other emergency
Conduct monthly program area safety inspections
Inspect medical facilities and equipment for functionality and safety
Maintain/organize supplies and submit supply requests
Assist with program and facility-related projects
Provide positive public relations and serve as a spokesperson on behalf of Pathfinder Ranch
Comply with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulations of outside agencies such as HIPAA, Health Department, and Fire Department
Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

18 years of age or older
Hold and maintain advanced medical training certificate or license from a nationally recognized provider (e.g. Wilderness First Responder, Medical Assistant, EMT, RN, etc.)
Communicate effectively and politely (bilingual with Spanish speaking skills preferred)
Complete tasks both independently and collaboratively in a timely and accurate manner
Appropriately prioritize tasks and responsibilities based on supervisor expectations, task urgency, and Camper needs
Effectively supervise staff
Proficient with office equipment, computers, and Microsoft Office
Must have a valid drivers license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
Previous work experience within an organized camp, outdoor education program or similar setting

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Physically assist with relocation of injured/ill clients and/or staff from remote locations
Ability to work a varied shift schedule in excess of 10 hours per day
Ability to traverse several miles per day on steep and uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to operate office equipment and keep accurate records
