Quality Technician

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The principal purpose of this job description is to outline the roles and responsibility of a Quality Technician. Performs inspections and sets quality assurance testing models for analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
Perform dimensional, visual, electrical and mechanical inspection using standard documentation and procedures.
Utilize precision measuring tools to assist receiving inspection.
Participate in various quality studies and improvement initiatives.
Prepare procedures, update and maintain files as needed Per IATF Standards and quality enhancement.
Perform and participate in various audits (IATF, floor, internal (LPA), external, customer, and dock) and report results.
Train and guide new quality assurance inspectors temporary or permanant as needed.
Quarantine and disposition parts as needed. Participate in the Material Review Board.
Train Production Operators in quality system techniques and proper inspection methods.
Evaluate and interpret manuals, blueprints, specifications along with other technical data.
Identify root cause of problems, analyze and develop remedial actions working with shop floor and engineers.
Complete daily scrap disposition, scrap reports, coordinate with suppliers, and Quality KPI tracking.
Provide acceptance or rejection for compliance to established standards and processes.
Verify conformance to applicable procedures and other approved documents.
Interact effectively and professionally with all personnel and customers.
Collect QA data, log data and evaluate results utilizing simple statistical tools.
Execute knowledge of QA methods and standards, inspection procedures, QA instructions and assembly specifications.
Identify procedure to conduct quality tests and inspections.
Perform first article, piece, in-process as well as final inspections.
Perform red-rabbit vérifications on inspection machinery
Operate automated and manual Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) and software as necessary.
Update and maintain inspection, documents, forms, logs, conformance certificates and other records.
Perform all other duties as assigned, instructed
Perform part cleaniness inspection for print specifications.

EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE
Knowledge of attribute and variable gaging.
Microsoft 365 Office system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Knowledge Plex (prefered not required)
Operate CMM with PC-DMIS (prefered not required)
Familiar with Minitab (prefered not required)

Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proficient in Plex or other manufacturing ERP system.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must have 1 year or more years of experience as a Quality Technician.
Good written and verbal communication.
Attention to detail.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Positive attitude and decision-making abilities.
Willingness to learn.
Reliable transportation.

Mathematical Skills
Should possess basic math skills, including ability to use gages, including micrometers, calipers and various sized plug gages.

Reasoning Ability

Quality
Recognize quality principles for operating efficiently in daily tasks while adhering to IATF 16949 standards. Participate in audits when necessary.
