The West Michigan Partnership for Children (WMPC) is seeking a CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER to play a key role in their executive leadership, oversee all financial operations, and assist in collaborating with key decision makers. ABOUT WMPC:

WMPC is a new organization that provides foster care and adoption services to children and families in Kent County, MI in partnership with Bethany Christian Services, Catholic Charities of West Michigan, D.A. Blodgett—St. Johns, Samaritas, and Wellspring Lutheran Services and through a contract with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). WMPC is piloting a performance-based contract, utilizing a case rate that incentivizes permanency while allowing for flexibility and creativity in funds. WMPC utilizes software that will allow for predictive analytics to project successful outcomes, and flag cases that are at risk. The WMPC seeks to empower communities to create better futures for children and families through innovation and collaboration.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and executes the financial strategy
  • Develops and manages financial policies and procedures in accordance with all GAAP standards
  • Develops budget and negotiates subcontractor budgets
  • Oversees preparation of all financial reports for the board, funders, and stakeholders
  • Prepares monthly reports to analyze projections of profit against figures
  • Monitors cash reserves and compares to forecasts and budget models
  • Coordinates with the COO on evaluation and CQI to ensure cost-effective programming and improved outcomes
  • Effectively and clearly communicates potential risks and mitigating such risks to the CEO in a timely manner
  • Manages agreement with financial consultant agency and provides guidance over all accounting functions
  • Oversees quality assurance reviews of subcontract reimbursements and liaises with financial consultant agency on any vendor payment issues/concerns
  • Makes recommendations for maximizing funding streams and diversifying sources
  • Coordinates audits and reviews

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possesses a Master’s in Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, or a Bachelor's Degree with commensurate experience
  • Must have 10+ years of experience, preferably in foster care, child welfare, or other non-profit experience
  • Working knowledge and comfortable with accounting software programs and MS Office
  • Experience administering government grants
  • Experience with data analysis and problem solving
  • Highly professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Extremely detailed with excellent follow-through
  • Ability to lead and grow a professional team is essential
