Position Summary: Quality Engineer will effectively apply and maintain evaluation methods, control systems, and Quality related processes to improve customer satisfaction, and support the delivery of products and services. Verify compliance with contractual, company and regulatory requirements and quality standards, identify risks and opportunities for improvement, monitor and measure performance, and manage root cause/corrective actions.

Description of Duties:
  • Responsible for maintaining the quality and consistency of the organization's Quality Management System processes and procedures across programs through the entire life cycle.
  • Reviews and approves planning documentation, ensures that all required inspection points are properly identified.
  • Review and approve purchase orders to assure that all necessary quality clauses are identified.
  • Manage Nonconformance Material Records and Corrective Action Requests as required.
  • Provide material review dispositions for nonconforming materials.
  • Recommend and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions that are necessary to reduce or eliminate non-conformances.
  • Provide technical expertise to employees and customers to ensure compliance with, contractual, company and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design and product reviews to ensure that producibility, inspection objectives are met.
  • Analyze contractual, product definition, and specification requirements for the development or modification of methods, procedures, and the development of metrics needed to ensure that quality standards and practices are attained.
  • Perform external supplier audits of processes and systems to ensure the quality of company products and services.
  • Provide quality system review to validate the integrity of quality decisions that affect product and services and support internal audits.
  • Analyze and compile performance reports and statistical process control metrics to determine and improve process capability for accuracy, repeatability, reproducibility, and stability using tools including PFMEA, product quality.
  • Provide education and coaching on the Quality system.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • understanding of End Item Data Pack (EIDP) deliverable requirements and activities.
  • Identifying and supporting Critical Inspection activities such as Pre-Ship Reviews, Customer, or a Third-party Representatives (DCMA) Source and Audits, and Vendor Source activities.
  • Process failure modes & effects analysis (PFMEA). Root Cause Corrective Action/Preventative Action (RCCCA/PA), Continuous Improvement, Fishbone Analysis, 5 Whys methodologies and in developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics.
  • Understanding of Customer Contract Review, Quality Requirements flow-downs, and Supplier's PR/PO Requirements (Q-Clauses), and First Article (AS9102) Documentation.
  • Knowledge of nonconforming material review (NCMR) and material review board (MRB) process and associated documentation.
  • Experience in receiving, in-process and final inspections and first article inspection in accordance with AS9102, to assure product conforms to released engineering and customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of key characteristic development.
  • Monitor, measure and communicate metrics (KPIs) at consistently.
  • Apply knowledge of statistical analysis, product configuration, engineering requirements, assembly flow, tooling functions, and process capabilities to identify/determine the key features necessary to control product and process performance.
  • Knowledge in mechanical inspections using standard measuring equipment and have some CMM experience
  • Ability to write reports, processes, and desk instructions clearly and concisely. Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; communicate effectively internally as well as externally with suppliers and customers.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field
  • 5 -8 years' experience as a Quality Engineer in the aerospace industry, manufacturing, or machining environment
  • Experienced working in or an understanding of ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System environment
  • Manufacturing process knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as ISO/AS/DFAR regulations, quality procedure manuals, test procedures, operating instructions, technical drawings, work instructions.
  • Ability to write technical reports and correspondences for internal communication as well as external to suppliers and customers.
  • Required to work on site 50% of the time.
