Job Description

Paradigm is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our client, a global automation company. Your job will be to lead cross-functional technical teams responsible for the design and validation of complex metrology products from concept through release to the market.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Prepare innovative design concepts and/or analysis critical to success of projects through application of modeling techniques to support system requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities beginning in the conceptual design phase and continuing throughout development and later life cycle phases.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, software, controls, and applications engineering disciplines for the execution of metrology solutions to meet the product requirements.
  • Field escalation support for our metrology products.
  • Excellent root cause analysis and problem solving and customer interaction.
  • Able to lead technical teams of up to 10 technicians and engineers through issue resolution and root cause determination.
  • Provide technical guidance for preventative actions to reduce and eliminate issues that take away from sustaining manufacturing with extremely high machine uptime and process capability.
  • Create test plans for acceptance testing (i.e. IAT, FAT, and SAT) to optimize and satisfy product requirements.


Our Skills and Wishlist include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering at minimum, advanced degree desirable.
  • Recent 10+ years engineering experience with 5+ years' experience as a systems engineer in the machine design /metrology industry with combination of design, debug, and production support.
  • Complex machine design experience including multi-axis precision motion integration requiring error mapping.
  • Familiarity and competency with statistical analysis, knowledge of measurement systems analysis (MSA) and other tools (gage R& R and correlation studies) a plus.
  • Familiarity with non-contact sensor technology capable of generating point clouds. Experience with machine vision a plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of success throughout the full project lifecycle (definition, development, validation, and manufacturing).
  • Solidworks and PDM proficiency preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving skills that incorporate data and statistics to determine corrective and preventative actions.
  • Excellent communication skills, questioning/listening skills, and presentation skills.
  • Precision motion stage design and implementation.
  • Hands on data collection setup and implementation for precision machines.
  • Data analysis of large data sets.
  • Non-contact sensor implementation and use.
  • Optical systems.
  • Machine vision and vision tools (Cognex a plus).
  • Metrology (CMM or other non-contact solutions).
  • Precision mechanical design.
  • Willingness to travel (domestically and internationally) up to 20% of time, for durations of 3+ weeks, occasionally with little advanced notice. Must possess a valid passport.
