Engineering Job Cost Analyst

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create, monitor, and control department and project budgets.
  • Create and control project related budgets, budget cost codes, budget breakdowns, etc.
  • Report accurate forecast projections to department and cross functional departments.
  • Track and monitor any changes to department or project budgets.
  • Collect and review business plan from each team within department.
  • Consult Japan headquarters on the status of program and project budget status.
  • Consistent communication with department, PENA project teams, and Japan headquarters.
  • Consult upper management for large expenditure approvals.
  • Assist in tracking any cost related issues or budget transfers and reporting major issues or transfers.
  • Generate required capital expenditure and operational expense reports
  • Measure departmental financial performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ability to analysis potential risks and perform risk management procedures to minimize project risks.
  • Create daily or weekly project budget reports including major highlights, budget updates, current budget status, issues or conflicts, lessons learned, and next action plans.
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and cost projection models to reflect current budget health
  • Work efficiently with Project Managers to assist in all budget and cost related items.
  • Assist Project Managers to manage and control project budget, provide required budget analysis techniques, track actual cost vs budgeted cost, forecast anticipated costs, etc.
  • Provide input on process improvement opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from a four-year College or University.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in finance or cost accounting control
  • Ability and proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • Solid computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software including Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates effective planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize work, and deliver quality results.
  • Self-starter who works well independently and an outstanding ability to follow up with minimal direction and a focus on team success.
  • Able to make appropriate decisions when confronted with obstacles, think about different solutions before taking action, and consistently resolve issues in creative and effective ways.
  • A strong work ethic with a “get the job done” approach and consistently delivers excellent customer service, both internally and externally.
  • Intuitive, adaptable, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative nature with strong team building skills and willing to learn from and accept guidance from others.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and working experience in SAP software
  • Bi-lingual in Japanese and English
