Job Description

The Production Supervisor provides leadership and direction to the plant in all areas of responsibility including administration, production, processing, packaging, quality, maintenance, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, safety, sanitation and environmental, throughout Pantheryx Colostrum Holdings (PCH).


Directs the overall activities of the Colostrum manufacturing department of the plant to ensure orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped to meet the customers’ requirements while maintaining corporate established quality standards.

Working Conditions:

Generally works a 40 hr work week, however may need to work longer days to resolve problems and meet deadlines.

Often on call to address a variety of problems that arise in a plant because of frequent deadlines and the challenges of supervising staff and resources.

Able to work for whatever the company needs which could include travel, long day’s etc.

Production supervisor will get involved (hands on) with the production to keep manufacturing going.

Will involve sitting, standing, walking, driving, and may involve climbing heights up to 40 feet, into tanks or lifting up to 50 lbs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes plant operations to ensure that the facility maintains a leadership position in the industry and that it takes advantage of new processes and technologies that become available.
  • Is responsible for expense management and control, labor and overhead costs utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques and lean culture practices.
  • Ensures compliance with all PCH Corporate policies and procedures.
  • Develops annual manufacturing expense budget in accordance with sales forecast volumes and planned inventory levels.
  • Assists with identification and implementation of capital project needs for the facility.
  • Provides reliable and accurate information to ensure that end of month closing schedules are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensures that appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are developed and maintained for all aspects of the business.
  • Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP’s).
  • Is responsible for all corporate, customer and government audits to ensure compliance.
  • Will work in partnership with EH&S department to ensure all environmental compliance is maintained.
  • Collaborates with other managers within PCH to share best practices.
  • Acts as a liaison with Distribution, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction while helping to address customer inquiries, problems and concerns.
  • Is responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, employee performance evaluations, discipline, and employee recognition.
  • Is responsible for the overall succession planning and development of production operators.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and controlling.
  • Has supervisory responsibility involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinates, promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Operating and maintaining a safe working environment, while maintaining good plant morale.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Measures of Performance:

Production KPI’s especially meeting cost and quality standards.

Supply, inventory, and production reports.

Employee performance.

Plant morale.

Safety history and overall TRIR.

Meeting production, quality, and general plant goals.

Developing and maintaining a Lean culture & environment.

General plant condition with 5S and lean/sigma alignment.

Ensuring Profitability and Continuous Improvement.

Product Output and Quality standards.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent discipline) required.

  • A minimum 5 years of hands-on experience within a manufacturing plant.
  • A minimum 3 years experience managing a team or department.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of regulatory laws and responsibilities as it relates to processing, filing and general facility standards.
  • Proficient understanding of budgeting and cost control.
  • Proven track record of improved results in the areas of quality, safety, service and cost.
  • Ability to assess, evaluate, and solve problems.
  • Ability to follow through with the business plans of PCH.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Ability to successfully influence peers and senior leadership.
  • Ability to develop, coach, and mentor for current and future needs.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities to simplify processes and create efficiencies.
