Responsible for allocation of manpower within the department to ensure a safe and comfortable environment in accordance with established policies and procedures, including general conditions, operation of electrical distribution system, pneumatic air systems, medical gas systems, HVAC equipment, boiler and steam systems, plumbing, and other patient support equipment. Provides assistance and input to the departmental manager on all departmental human resources issues to include the hiring and termination of section personnel, time and attendance records, the performance evaluation program, and the providing of appropriate and progressive discipline. Responsible for monitoring daily productivity and any specific areas of responsibility by department staff. Responsible for operating the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program and the performance of preventive and repair maintenance on various types of electrical and mechanical equipment. Provides training and in-services for the department. Serves as person in charge in the absence of the Manager. Takes an active role in the development and implementation of new programs for the department. Responsible for utilizing appropriate work practices commensurate with the environment of work to include working with neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, mature adults, older adults and psychiatric care patients. Ability to travel, answer and respond to off hour calls and / or emergencies. Manage all Work orders and Preventive Maintenance programs within. Manage and train entry level staff. Work cohesively with Vendors and Contractors. Ensure policies and procedures are affectively adhered to. Ensure a safe, secure, compliant, and efficient upkeep of the environment and facility. Maintain and organize facility files / documentation as determined by the department Manager. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
