POSITION SUMMARY

Jewel of the South is seeking a SERVICE DIRECTOR to lead the FOH staff in guest interactions and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Manage dining room operations in coordination with GM and Director of Operations

Conduct and participate in daily pre-shift meetings

Expedite food from kitchen, ensuring: timely and accurate delivery of orders; consistency of presentation; adherence to service standards and compliance with guest dietary restrictions; and positive culture, communication and workflow between front and back of house

Update dinner menus daily, working with Back of House management to maintain clarity and consistency in menu language

Promote a safe working environment for staff and guests by maintaining facilities enforcing safety and security procedures nightly

Operations

Staff Management

Directly oversee and assist in managing all FOH staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and addressing concerns and disputes

Administer disciplinary procedures when needed, including terminations

Develop, mentor, train and advise FOH staff as required or requested

Monitor FOH morale to increase focus, productivity and positivity

Guide FOH staff on principles of guest service and responses to guest feedback

Educate FOH staff on daily changes to product knowledge and service standards during pre-shift meetings

Compose and contribute to nightly emails between FOH managers in order to highlight and manage issues as they emerge

Financial / Administrative

Daily cash reconciliation

Monitor FOH staff clock-ins and clock-outs and overtime, inspect FOH payroll weekly

Assist in upkeep of Aloha Breadcrumb system

Monitor reservation system to maximize reservations, make situational decisions regarding available reservations and reservation changes

Order and maintain various FOH supplies

Approve and code invoices

Cultural

Support, reinforce, and align decisions with company’s guiding principles

Adhere to and lead all company systems, policies, and procedures

Meet new FOH hires and review the FOH training manual

Attend team meetings and events, including monthly financial meetings, weekly FOH manager meetings

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of 2-4 years of progressive management experience in a service-driven, fine-dining restaurant

Knowledge of wine, spirits, and beer

Strong organizational and communicational skills

Knowledge and experience in Google docs, sheets, etc.

Experience with restaurant POS systems, Breadcrumb preferred

A passion for hospitality, food, and service
