Job Description

POSITION OUTLINE:
The Director of Specialty Coatings Division will have direct oversight, and involvement, in expanding the PSE customer base, sales, and profits in the Specialty Coatings division, while monitoring operations to optimize performance potential and profitability.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 Maximizes sales and profit results specific to Specialty Coatings Division within Painters Supply & Equipment Co. and Family of Companies.
 Coordinates sales territories and region markets by establishing area boundaries and goals.
 Provide input to Corporate Management for setting sales and budget standards.
 Develop and implement sales and profit plans with the Vice President of Sales and Chief Operations Officer, which accomplish market objectives in terms of sales volume and profitability.
 Analyze and review, with the appropriate personnel, various operation reports to ensure profitability and budget goals are achieved.
 Control expenses, remaining within budget, and maintain required records/documentation and submit required reports, documentation, and summaries within given deadlines as required by executive management.
 Direct and guide reporting managers in the performance of their job duties.
 Monitor operations to optimize performance potential.
 Ensure effective operation of stores in accordance with specific location performance standards as set by Company policy.
 Assist to rectify delinquent accounts.
 Know and understand the goals and mission of Company business plan. Know and understand the Company Quality Management System.
 Conduct self in professional manner to ensure customers’ quality and service expectations are met.
 Drive strategic direction for Specialty Coatings division within PSE. Understand market segment diversification and product portfolio needs to drive performance.

II. Customer Service

 Be readily accessible to region personnel for advice/assistance through use of phone, cell phone and e-mail.
 Communicate to region personnel, current sales promotions, new product development, etc.
 Build and manage relationships with existing and potential customers.
 Identify potential problems and work through with sales support network.
 Give immediate attention to customer comments and complaints and mediate to resolution. Complete the appropriate nonconformance or corrective action form and forward accordingly.
 Support region personnel with technical, sales, and marketing assistance as needed.
 Assist with inside customer service, as needed, including servicing customers and/or processing their orders.
 Process sales transactions using POS devices and Company guidelines.
 Provide customer with information on both established and new products.
 Work with PSE purchasing group regarding supply chain matters to ensure customers expectations are met.

III. Sales/Marketing

 Collect reliable customer and territory information.
 Identify current market competitors and their strengths and weaknesses.
 Know PSE/PPG competitive advantages, along with other suppliers within Powder Coatings and Wood Coatings.
 Formulate objectives based upon historical performance and market conditions.
 Read and interpret market information and identify opportunities.
 Actively seek to become key knowledge source for region personnel regarding Specialty Coatings division and related products.
 Counsel Specialty Coatings Group Managers toward their obtainment of individual sales goals/objectives.

IV. Region Personnel Management

 Support the recruitment, interview and development of region personnel as needed.
 Ensure staffing levels and employee schedules are determined and implemented accordingly.
 Write and administer employee performance appraisals and Performance Improvement Plans for reporting personnel.
 Know the job duties of reporting personnel and ensure their completion to Company standards.

V. Safety & Security

 Monitor safety standards to ensure compliance with Company and Governmental regulations.
 Monitor and ensure the implementation and compliance with Company security standards including opening/closing store, truck security inspection, etc.

*ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

 Accompany and assist Specialty Coatings Group Managers on sales calls.
 Further knowledge of Specialty Coatings industry through Company training, trade journals, seminars, etc.
 Further knowledge/skills regarding sales techniques and methods.
 Perform other duties as assigned.
 Assist staff with periodic or annual store inventories.
 Special projects as assigned.

TRAINING REQUIREMENT:

Attend various manufacturer training seminars and/or training schools. Seminar may be conducted after normal business hours. Training schools may require overnight travel up to five (5) days.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, with concentration in business, is preferred.

 Previous record of effective management including expense control, sales management, and directing personnel.

 Knowledge of product technology and product application usually obtained through one or more years’ experience in a store or other Company position or related experience in the Specialty Coatings industry is required.

 Ability to work all scheduled hours as needed.

 Employees personal vehicle is required for company business, employee must obtain appropriate insurance per Company Policy. Must have acceptable driving record from State Motor Vehicle Bureau.
