Job Description

PIPEFITTING FOREMAN

Position Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day activities of assigned personnel on the assembly, installation, insulation and repair of plumbing, pipefitting, air conditioning, refrigeration and heating units (Specific Trade) used in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Provides guidance and direction to crews in meeting or beating the budgets and schedule dates on each project. Ensures job quality and customer satisfaction is maintained in every stage of the project. Interacts with upper management and other trades, customers and vendors to build lasting relationships. Creates the type of positive environment that works to maintain a sufficient and qualified work force. Reports to Projects Supervisor.

Trade Specific Responsibilities

Reads blueprints and interprets specifications. Plans work to make the most efficient use of assigned manpower, tools and other resources. Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification. Performs three-week look ahead, takeoffs and estimate analyses. Sets up specific tasks and jobsite trade schedule. Makes adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules, using his knowledge of equipment/lead-times and assigned personnel capacities. Corrects punch list items and makes distribution as required.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Minimum of 6 years of commercial experience or proven performance in field trade specific construction.

Minimum of 2 years lead journeyman experience

Multiple trades experience a plus.

Stable work history.

 

JOB SKILLS

Ability to read blueprints

Journeyman or better trade knowledge.

Basic computer skills.

Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.

Able to do basic take offs

Able to install equipment

Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

High School or GED Equivalent

Trade School/apprenticeship a plus

Forklift/Pettybone certification (every 3 years)

First Aid/CPR (every 2 years)

Trenching/Shoring Competent Person

Fall Protection/competent Person

OSHA 10 Hour or OSHA 30

Foreman Safety Training

Crane & Rigging

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Eyesight correctable to 20/50

Able to work long hours on feet.

Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds

Able to perform shift work

Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions

Must be able to perform work while kneeling and crawling.

Must have and be able to use trade standard tools.
