Job Description

 Seeking to hire an experienced full-time (40 hours/week) Medical Scribe / Medical Assistant (MS/MA) for a busy and growing neurology private practice located in Ventura County, California.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The MS/MA will work directly with clinicians as they treat patients, relieving them of various secretarial, medical, and clerical tasks so that they may focus on the practice of medicine. The primary role of the MS/MA will be to make detailed notes on each patient encounter, in real time, directly into the electronic medical record (EMR). The MS/MA will also prepare letters and other printed documents as needed. The MS/MA will also perform medical, secretarial, and administrative tasks typical of the position of Medical Assistant. The MS/MA will at times work mostly or entirely as a medical scribe, and at other times mostly or entirely as a medical assistant, depending on the needs of the practice,

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transcribing and otherwise documenting all aspects of each patient encounter
  • Entering all information into the EMR without delay or error
  • Preparing letters, correspondence and other formal documents
  • Greeting and rooming patients
  • Reconciling and verifying medications
  • Responding to prescription refill requests as per the practice SOP
  • Cleaning and sanitizing examination rooms and medical instruments
  • Answering phones, taking messages, and triaging appropriately
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Requesting, receiving, reviewing and/or preparing items needed for patient care such as radiographic images, medical records, and lab reports.
  • Performing other secretarial, medical, and clerical tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years or more of experience as a Medical Scribe or Medical Assistant
  • In-depth knowledge of medications and medical terminology
  • Typing (60 to 70+ WPM)
  • Ability to capture information accurately and quickly

Expertise and excellence in:

  • Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Electronic Medical Records
  • Spoken and written English

  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced medical office
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a dynamic and successful team

Special consideration will be given for:

  • Advanced education (AA, AS, BA, BS)
  • Prior experience as a Medical Scribe in a neurology or other subspecialty office
