Job Description

 

SUMMARY: The PROMETRIKA Technology Group (PTG) Systems Engineer is responsible for primary support of the day-to-day activities required to maintain the IT and infrastructure support to the organization inclusive of desktop, server, storage, network support, telephony, and facilities. This position reports into the Head of Technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines, designs, and implements network communications and solutions. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manages load configuration of central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. Maintains all networks, including internet interfaces. Maintains the data storage system and performs system back-ups. Coordinates terminal orders and cable installation, as well as network system planning, installing, monitoring, testing and servicing
  • Provides support of Windows operating systems including desktop and server
  • Performs troubleshooting, system backups, archiving, and hands-on support as necessary
  • Develops and maintains infrastructure documentation to support configuration management and disaster recovery. Ability to understand and document validated systems is preferred.
  • Assists in the administration of several in-house systems of timekeeping, telephone and security systems, and company-wide upgrades
  • Participate in evaluations/assessments of new technologies/systems and provides feedback to management
  • Monitors, troubleshoots and maintains the security of network systems and services to prevent occurrences that compromise the infrastructure environment
  • Implements systems and procedures to ensure efficient day-to-day IT operations that meet the service needs of the business and its clients
  • Learns and remains informed about the company’s business requirements/processes. Determines the appropriate system solutions to ensure business requirements are satisfied
  • Plans and implements additions, deletions and major modifications for the supporting infrastructure company-wide in accordance with necessary validation and regulatory requirements
  • Regularly reviews operational processes for efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with a view to instigating a continuous process of improvement within all infrastructure operational area
  • Monitors, troubleshoots and maintain the print environment. Troubleshoots desktop issues to the advanced level in Word/Excel/Windows 10
  • Assists with all IT-related purchasing and budget administration
  • Recommends the purchasing of software, hardware and other IT supplies for the company and ensures that company assets are maintained appropriately
  • Trains staff in new services, applications and equipment, and arranges and runs any necessary training. Maintains current training documentation
  • Participates in the recruiting and training of PTG personnel. This may include third party vendors working as permanent hires or as external contractors
  • Mentors, coaches and leads junior PTG personnel through engagement, collaboration and indirect influence, inspiring the team to learn and work towards project goals
  • Enforces company IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with computer systems validation requirements per FDA regulations
  • Works with Program Management and the other functional areas, outlining the IT operational needs for each new project with specific emphasis on translating business and client objectives
  • Leads major IT projects providing status reports and updates

Business Applications

  • Works closely with the Head of Technology in identifying, evaluating, selecting, and implementing specific information technologies that supports PROMETRIKA’s business plans and PTG strategies
  • Develops relevant metrics, measures and publishes the performance of the services provided and enables continuous improvement activities in collaboration with peer groups
  • Assists with the preparation of budget for PTG systems and services related interfaces and applications
  • Keeps abreast of new developments and forecasts future trends in the area of application integration in the healthcare industry
  • Maintains a strong understanding of technology and its application to achieve business objectives
  • Prepares analysis and or proposals for other enterprise departments when necessary
  • Serves as an internal consultant to other PTG staff and operations community as needed

Asset Management

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors in order to negotiate favorable purchasing arrangements for the business
  • Oversees all Technology related purchasing, working with senior management to develop forward-looking needs and budget requirements
  • Assists in purchasing of all software, hardware and other technology supplies for the company and ensures that company assets are maintained appropriately
  • Holds responsibility for capacity planning and scheduling vendor negotiations
  • Assist in development of company PTG policies and procedures; ensuring compliance through the development and maintenance of adequate training programs
  • In conjunction with Program Management and the other functional areas, assists in outlining the PTG operational needs for each new project with specific emphasis on translating business and client objectives
  • Identifies and deploys PTG and/or third party resources, as necessary, for each new project and ensures that business and client objectives are adequately addressed
  • In partnership with Head of Technology, coordinates all PTG activities, resolves resource conflicts, and provides status reports as required
  • Anticipates future PTG needs for company and identifies proactive solutions to satisfy needs
  • Interfaces with other functional areas to proactively identify and, if possible, resolve technology issues or delays that could impact project-related obligations
  • Lends technology expertise to internal teams as required

REQUISITE SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Advanced expertise using and troubleshooting MS Word, Excel and Windows 10 a plus.
  • Advanced expertise using and troubleshooting Windows Server 2016 and 2019
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Advanced knowledge using and troubleshooting back up software (VEEAM, Backup Exec)
  • Experience using virtualization software (VMWare)
  • Experience using storage technologies and troubleshooting interconnection issues and/or latency
  • Familiarity with desktop imaging
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with representatives from a broad range of information technology disciplines
  • Ability to accurately identify and resolve problems

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other technical discipline
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the Information Technology with increasing levels of responsibility. Experience in Life Sciences technology preferred.
  • Proven success in managing technology infrastructure and support personnel under tight timeframes
  • Certifications in software and hardware applications preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbents generally must be able to, with or without accommodation, have the proficient use of both sensory perception/clarity and muscle control/coordination and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This may include vision (near, far, color, glare control), hearing (auditory attention, sound localization), speech, strength, agility, dexterity flexibility, steadiness or reaction time.
