Job description
Position Responsibilities:
- Manages Preventative Maintenance Program to minimize equipment downtime.
- Participates in planning and completion of capital and non-capital projects throughout manufacturing facility dealing with machine capability, design and equipment repair.
- Maintains communications with Vice President of Manufacturing, General Plant Manager and General Business Managers on status of capital projects and repairs throughout manufacturing facility.
- Develops and Manages multi-million dollar budget for maintenance department and facilities
- Coordinates all communication with third party purchasing company to ensure all contractual agreements are being maintained. Leads negotiations when contractual time limits are approaching.
- Maintains a network of local resources to obtain crane service, welders, machine shops and maintenance assistance as needed.
Technical Qualifications should include:
- Knowledge of Electrical Distribution Systems within Production Facilities.
- Knowledge of Electrical Motors Operation and Maintenance, cause of failure and how to decide when to repair or replace. Both AC and DC.
- Knowledge of Power Transmission gears, clutches, couplings, chains, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Knowledge of Production Process control including PLC, Motor Drive Systems both AC and DC.
- Ability to read schematics for electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Computer literate, familiar with SAP.
- Preferably familiar with AutoCAD Drawing.
Required Education and Skills
· B.S or M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
· Prior experience in a 24/7 manufacturing facility preferably in the metals industry.
· Previous experience with capitol project management.
· Knowledge of Gant charts and project planning.
· Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to think ahead, work on own, and the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
· Highly motivated self-driven individual with a strong desire to succeed and eager to enhance knowledge and skills through on-going education and development.
· Ability to lead others and influence others through motivation, management and professional development.
· Must be service minded and understand the service side of a maintenance department in a large manufacturing facility.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day on a regular basis. May require additional hours of work, as required.
- Requires some physical strain and ability to use full range of body motion to include: bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting and lifting of moderately heavy items such as product (tubing) test pieces, test equipment.
- Position requires frequent walking and/or standing on concrete floor while wearing steel-toed shoes. May walk up to two (2) miles per shift while performing essential duties.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- May require unassisted lifting of a variety of objects from various positions, which range in weight from 5 to 50 pounds with an average weight of 34-37 pounds.
- Utilizes a variety of hand positions such as turning and twisting.
- Since the manufacturing plant operates around-the-clock, may often work late shifts and may be called at any hour to deal with emergencies. This could mean going to the plant to resolve the problem, regardless of the hour, and staying until the situation is under control.
- Dealing with production workers as well as supervisors when working under the pressure of production deadlines or emergency situations can be stressful.
- The job is fast paced and the ability to deal with stress is essential.
Typical Working Conditions:
- The Maintenance Manager divides his/her time between an indoor office environment at our Southwest Tube location and in the manufacturing area of this facility.
- The office environment is typically temperature controlled and clean, with normal air contaminants, such as dust, typically found in an office environment.
- The manufacturing environment has regular exposure to loud and prolonged noise and some work may be performed around moving equipment and machines.
- Regular exposure to hot temperatures of 95º F to 110º F in the summer due to the combination of the actual outside temperature and heat from the processes inside the facility. Employees are also exposed to cold temperatures, which is dependent on the actual outside temperature.
- While in the manufacturing area, employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields and steel toed work shoes
