SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for providing technical leadership to members of the IT Infrastructure team. This includes but is not limited to providing research and development for new IT Technologies, providing project management on IT Infrastructure projects, and providing technical support to other members of the IT Infrastructure team as well as all corporate users. The Systems Administrator provides technical leadership on all elements of the distributed computing environment including, WAN/LAN networks, Windows/Linux servers and associated applications, network security, data storage and backups, disaster recovery, and data center design and monitoring.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field required. Master's degree desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience supporting all aspects of a large enterprise network.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and operate in a dynamic enterprise environment.
  • In-depth understanding of client-server systems, wide-area networks, data storage systems, and data center operations.
  • Extensive system administration/engineering experience with Windows Server, Active Directory required
  • Experience installing and supporting VMWare technologies including ESXi and vCenter required
  • Experience with MS SQL Server administration is required
  • Experience with MS Office 365 tenant administration (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, MDM, etc.) is required
  • Experience with latest Cyber security concepts and technologies required.
  • Working knowledge of NAS and SAN storage technologies. Experience with one or more major Storage vendor technologies desired.
  • Working knowledge of server hardware. Experience with IBM, HP and Dell systems desired.
  • Working experience with Server management tools such as HP Insight Manager and iLO and IBM IMM is desired
  • VDI experience with Citrix XenApp, Citrix Access Gateway and NetScaler is desired
  • Experience with one or more major Linux distributions is desired
  • Technical Certifications:
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) v4 or v5 (Desired) 
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) (Desired) 
    • Network+ or Security+ (Desired) 

 

TECHNICAL and/or MANAGERIAL JOB COMPETENCIES:

  • Solid systems troubleshooting experience to include application performance and latency problems in both physical and virtual environments 
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to assist, in the creation of strategic and tactical plans for system and data survivability and recovery 
  • Self-starter who has a strong attention to detail and effective time management, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated expertise supporting Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, and SQL Server.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, etc.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office 365 cloud products administration.
  • Experience supporting Disaster Recovery Sites and related technologies.
  • Documented technical training or certification in Microsoft, Cisco, or other IT technologies highly desirable. 
  • General knowledge of networking technologies: routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs.

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides guidance to the IT department and customers as necessary to facilitate the selection and development of new IT technologies and business applications.
  • Leads IT Infrastructure team members in the design, development, implementation, and support of IT technologies across all existing and new PEI facilities.
  • Works with network personnel to monitor volume, capacity, and bandwidth of existing network architecture to meet changing priorities and ensure growth is managed appropriately.
  • Acts as escalation point for IT Infrastructure related issues.
  • Works with other members of the IT Infrastructure team to ensure data storage, backup, and recovery processes are functioning properly.
  • Leads the IT Infrastructure team in the creation, maintenance, and testing of disaster recovery policies and procedures.
  • Oversees application of preventative maintenance routines to ensure system performance, availability, and security.
  • Assists IT security personnel in the design, development, and implementation of security technologies to prevent, detect, and respond to internal and external security threats.
  • Helps develop project plans and implementation details as required to support implementation of new IT technologies and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Serves as consultative resource and mentor to IT Infrastructure staff and peers to facilitate problem resolution and ensure consistency and compliance to departmental standards and policies
