Sr System Admin (VMWare) w/ Clearance

We are searching for a skilled Senior System Administrator with VMWare experience to join our team supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Arlington, VA. The position will have a strong focus on backend system support including administration and maintenance of VMware Virtual Cloud Foundation 4.x, vCenter 7.x, vRealize Suite and VMware Site Recovery Manager at both primary and secondary sites. The administrator will also assist in the availability, reliability, and security of all aforementioned National Guard Bureau IT systems. Other duties and task may include SAN administration and fiber channel network administration.

Active DoD Security clearance (SECRET) required.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Manage virtualization environment, including high availability, with VMware vCenter within Production, Pre-production and COOP environments.
• Manage Virtual Cloud Foundation infrastructure and all interconnected components.
• Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of ESXi hypervisors loaded on physical platforms.
• Management and allocation of virtual hardware to virtual machines including right sizing CPU and memory.
• Ensures that the virtual environment at the COOP is operational and able to support all virtual machines currently running in the production environment.
• Coordinate with systems administrators and storage administrators to ensure data required to execute the COOP are available at the remote site.
• Coordinate with the storage administrator to support automated failover to the COOP site via VMware Site Recovery Manager.
• Apply/implement IAVMs, STIGs, bug fixes, security patches/controls, and access controls across multiple platforms.
• Monitor servers and gather performance data for analysis.
• Maintain and utilize the vRealize Suite (Operations, Lifecycle Manager, Log Insight) to improve visibility and monitoring capabilities.
• Perform utilization analysis on existing servers and provide recommendations for upgrades, modification, replacement and/or additions.
• Perform repairs, upgrades, modifications as required.
• Perform system testing and troubleshooting of servers as required.
• Develop and maintain server and software services administration, start-up, stop, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Create and maintain server templates.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to document system configurations.
• Occasional On-Call required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• DoD SECRET Clearance
• ITIL Foundation Certification (can be obtained within 60 days of employment)
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
• 5 years of related experience is a plus
• VMware certification (VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Associate (VCA)) and Microsoft certification (Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), MCSA Windows Server 2016 or equivalent) is a plus but not required

Location:

• Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite in Arlington, VA and 2 remote work days)
