This is a great opportunity to work as a Dimensional Engineer or Geometry Assurance Engineer in our team in the US. As a member of our team you will work in close contact with our customers in their product development projects during concept development, detailed design phase, industrialization and production with the goal to support the dimensional engineering efforts across all phases of a project.

The candidate we are looking for may have at least some years of engineering experience. Most important is that you are driven by learning new skills and that you are or want to become a specialist in the field of Dimensional Engineering / Geometry Assurance. You will be a part of developing an area of expertise in the US.

PE Geometry have excellent possibility to provide you with deeper knowledge about the complete Dimensional Engineering / Geometry Assurance Process, methods and tools through our own courses and from any of our experienced and helpful co-workers.

Responsibilities and work may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide input when defining aesthetical requirements such as nominal size, accepted deviation of part interfaces such as visible gap & flush relations between components and propose needed changes in product design
  • Concept development of datum schemes and assembly strategy for robust design
  • Conduct 3D tolerance stack-up analysis in simulation software and propose improvements in an iterative process
  • Propose conceptual Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to the development of new products to ensure that aesthetical and functional requirements are met virtually during early development phases
  • Support later phases of product development and industrialization with inspection preparation, measurement fixture evaluation, measurement data analysis and root cause analysis
  • Work cross-functionally with different departments (Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Design) to evaluate and recommend most suitable way forward
  • Work with suppliers and production plant to approve and evaluate production results. This will require occasional long-distance travels.
  • Support our costumer with metrology using our own measurement equipment or our customer´s equipment
  • Be an active contributor to the evolution and expansion of our operation across the United States.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar or relevant work experience
  • Good knowledge of GD&T theory and methodology
  • 3+ years of experience with mechanical engineering work
  • Basic knowledge of 1D and/or 3D variation analysis
  • Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and process control
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Driven and hungry for new knowledge
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Desired qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T theory and methodology
  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical engineering work with some portion or tasks being related to Dimensional Engineering or Quality Assurance work
  • Proficiency in 1D and 3D dimensional variation analysis
  • Experience working with variation software such as VisVSA, RD&T, 3DCS or CETOL
  • Experience working with CATIA V5 or other CAD tools
  • Knowledge of measurement systems and manufacturing processes
