Behavior Technician - Contract to Hire

We are seeking Behavior Technicians (certified or non-certified) for our client in Lakewood, WA. This position will be carried out within a school setting and is a contract to hire opportunity.

Essential Functions:

  1. Support school staff with:

    • applying behavior support strategies

    • supporting autism-based interventions

    • applying Right Response/Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or other evidence-based strategies in de-escalation and safety

    • collecting data

  2. Attend and participate in regular IEP and BIP meetings when applicable

  3. Attend and participate in ongoing training provided by school district and EdForce™

Required Skills:

  1. Interest in providing support for students requiring high levels of behavioral support. Behaviors can be unpredictable and range from mild/moderate to intense.

  2. A passion for helping teachers succeed

  3. A personal desire to learn and grow.

  4. Experience working with children with special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder

  5. Ability to collect accurate and consistent data related to programs and target behaviors

  6. Understanding of how to follow student plan and provide feedback to caregivers and teachers outlined within the program plan

  7. Understanding of academic, communication and behavior strategies to support students of varying levels

  8. Ability to accept and apply ongoing feedback provided by supervisors, administration and school staff

  9. Ability to follow policies, including communicating concerns and emergencies to supervisor immediately

  10. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, strong computer skills, and solid organizational skills

    Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to interact with students on the floor for extended durations of time

  2. Must be able to sit/stand/walk/run/jump/crouch/kneel/reach above head/crawl/bend

  3. Able lift a minimum of 50lbs

  4. Maintain safety of the student and surrounding environment throughout the work day

Preferred Education and Field Experience:

  1. BA/BS degree or higher in applied behavior analysis, psychology, child development, education, special education, social work, or a related field.

  2. Experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles (additional training provided)

  3. Experience utilizing low- and high-tech assistive technology devices

  4. Understanding of Core vocabulary and Language Acquisition Motor Planning (LAMP)

  5. Experience working with students or adults with disabilities

Additional Requirements:

  1. Minimum of an AA/AS Degree

  2. Have a car and valid driver's license with proof of insurance

  3. Eager, energetic, and passionate demeanor

  4. Must pass TB test and criminal background and fingerprint screening

Schedule: 30-35hrs per week

Pay: $22-$25/HR DOE
