Finance Analysis Specialist

PATH is seeking candidates with experience in bookkeeping or accounts payable join our Finance Department's FGM team as a Finance Analysis Specialist. This position is based out of our Regional Headquarters in Los Angeles.

The Finance Grants Management (FGM) team in our Finance Department manages all aspects of PATH's grants and contracts including invoicing, receivables collection, grant budgeting, grant budget tracking, reporting, and fiscal compliance.

As part of the FGM team, the Finance Analysis Specialist prepares and maintains reports on various programs to support budget analysis, profit and loss, and contract receivables. Responsibilities of the Finance Analysis Specialist include: 

  • Budget Support
    • Supporting the finance department with creating budget templates and maintaining a centralized system for tracking budgets 
    • Assisting with gathering data to support preparation of new grant application budgets, modifications, and renewals 
    • Preparing budgets and budget modifications in collaboration with programs and other Finance staff 
    • Extracting and providing budget information as requested 
    • Assisting with managing PATH's funding matrix and extracting data from contracts to inform Finance staff of new and closing grants 
    • Leading the monthly preparation of budget versus actual and receivables reporting packets for the CalAIM and County Medi-Cal/Unit of Service programs 
  • Financial Analysis 
    • Preparing regular analytical reports on financial discrepancies, risks, and other important financial matters for high profile programs 
    • Working with the CalAIM and Quality Assurance & Compliance teams to analyze and reconcile budget and receivables matters
    • Analyzing and organizing budget information to inform the Director and Associate Director or to recommend changes 
    • Analyzing contracts and grants information to support the appropriate cataloguing of information for the PATH funding matirx
    • Running special reports to analyze grant costs data for accuracy and adherence to PATH contracts and grants requirements 
  • General 
    • Entering journal entries or working with accounting to request journal entries and journal entry adjustments 
    • Preparing government funding and private funding cost reports 
    • Preparing cost reimbursement invoices 
    • Serving as back-up for the Grant Billing unit as needed or requested

  • Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA and all other applicable standards and policies

An excellent candidate for this role will: 

  • Have experience in accounting, grant invoicing, budget and data management, or related function in a non-profit environment in Los Angeles County. 
  • Be familiar with Sage Intacct accounting software

To be considered for this position, we require all candidates:

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting OR have comparable work experience 
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in fiscal grant invoicing, budgeting, reporting, data management, or related function
  • Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills, be proficient with Microsoft work, and familiarity with the rest of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate advanced financial reporting skills 
  • Effectively perform high level analysis
  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically and come up with creative solutions
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with a complex non-profit chart of account

For this role, the Finance Analysis Specialist must:

  • Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings or weekends
  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:

    • Drug Test
