Job Description

We’re developing our digital design team for a reason and we’re looking for awesome people to carry the torch.

As the Senior Digital Designer, you will report to the Creative Director. Managing designers and freelancers to execute all content creation across email, the entire Outerknown.com experience, and all social media platforms. These experiences will promote thoughtful and educational product experiences, elevate the customer journey, use engaging storytelling, and/or inspire the consumer. This individual will partner closely with the brand marketing, email & performance marketing, and ecomm teams as well as all members of the creative team.

You will play a key role in orchestrating a customer-centric journey, platform innovation, and educating others on design thinking and digital best practices. You are passionate about digital design, dedicated to quality, and have a creative mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the concept, development, and design of all aspects of emails and the entire Outerknown.com experience
  • Support the brand marketing and social media teams in the creation of digital assets
  • Work on Brand, Product, and Environmental campaigns across digital platforms
  • Develop concepts and ideas from the ground up, pitch ideas to the Print Art Director and Creative Director, creating compelling, relevant, and meaningful work.
  • Work on multiple projects, prioritizing as needed and efficiently managing time while giving and receiving strategic direction.
  • Owning the design process end-to-end, moving from concept through to the final asset
  • Learn and ideate within a project or from project to project, helping to identify new opportunities.
  • Provide quality assurance of all creative deliverables.
  • Maintain proper organization of all digital assets and final files
  • Ensure the usability, consistency, brand relevance, and functionality of all designs
  • Keep up to date with the latest digital technologies, advances in web and mobile technologies
  • Manage and mentor Digital Designers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passionate: About digital design and the desire to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions, and where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.
  • Organized: You meet deadlines and help others meet them too. You manage details and keep projects on track using checklists, check-in meetings, or whatever is needed.
  • Inclusive: Deeply experienced in collaborating with others across differences and bringing in new perspectives and underrepresented narratives in the customer experience.
  • Leader: You have experience in leading designers with strong people management skills.
  • Collaborative: You take direction from various departments and work cross-functionally to create a brand right and aligned vision

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 6 - 9 years of professional design experience
  • Well-rounded foundation across visual design, customer-centered experience design, interaction design, and the creative process.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Pixel-perfect attention to detail.
  • Experience working on a range of digital projects including module base web pages, paid media, and email templates.
  • Must be able to function as a project leader as well as an individual contributor.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to articulate design intent to other members of the team, and project expertise and confidence to stakeholders.
  • Must understand and be comfortable interacting with our web development team, including an understanding of development language and code
  • Must have a strong understanding of Shopify, experience working in Klaviyo and Mile preferred

This position is based in our corporate office in Culver City, CA.
