JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION NAME: Extended Care Director/Director of Hot Lunch
*Can be full time or part time
SCHOOL: Our Lady of the Lake
REPORTS TO: Principal
EFFECTIVE DATE: FLEXIBLE
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: the Extended Care Director develops and implements the center’s program of activities. Ensures the appropriateness of program activities according to the age, interests, and developmental level of the children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential functions/major responsibilities listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. 1. Maintain a positive and caring environment in which all staff members observe all school policies.
2. Review and maintain compliance with ODE- Rules for Certified Child Care Centers
3. Review and maintain compliance with all CCD regulations:
¨ Maintain program files for the CCD certification process
¨ Maintain accurate record keeping for school needs
· Student attendance
· Emergency medical information
· Health information
· Fire, safety and health regulations
· Staff:child ratio of 1 staff: 15 children
· Providing substitutes as necessary
· Communicate with parents regarding student discipline
· Work with Assistant Principal regarding student discipline
4. Plan the student and staff schedules and approve lesson plans.
5. Provide for regular communication to parents, addressing monthly activities and snack calendar.
6. Establish procedures for the smooth and efficient running of the extended care program, lunch program, including budgeting and purchasing.
¨ Create daily routine of procedures/expectations, such as sign-in/out sheets
¨ Provide storage for students’ personal belongings
¨ Handle budgeting in collaboration with the school office manager
¨ Arrange for cleaning and maintenance of the daycare facility with the school office manager
¨ Handle ordering and purchasing of supplies with the school office manager
7. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
JOB SCOPE:
Position encounters frequent new and varied work situations. Incumbent determines own practices and procedures and contributes to the development of new concepts. Position operates independently with minimal supervision.
COMMUNICATION/CLIENT CONTACT:
Contacts are usually made with others both inside and outside the school. Contacts are usually made at own initiative, or at a principal’s request, and may contain confidential/sensitive matters.
SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS:
¨ Proven skills in the areas of teaching, development, and administration
¨ Ability to interact with children in a positive manner for lengthy periods
¨ Understanding of children’s learning patterns and developmental needs
¨ Proficiency in design, layout, and implementation of learning programs
¨ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
¨ Maintain confidentiality
¨ Organize events and materials in a successful manner
¨ Organize and present ideas in a clear and concise manner
¨ Successfully lead, manage, and train staff, volunteers, and programs.
¨ Prioritize workload to meet program requirements
¨ Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
¨ Must be flexible, creative, and responsible
¨ Personal qualities, including sound judgment, social competency and/or adaptability, self-confidence, emotional maturity, initiative, enthusiasm, and/or resourcefulness, and dedication to duty.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
2 years of college level training with a focus in education/child development and/or 2 years of relevant experience working with children in a certified daycare center. Must have current Red Cross first aid and CPR certificate. Must be 18 years of age or older. Valid drivers license required. Prefer practicing Catholic.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle, and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 40 pounds.
JOB CONDITION:
Work is performed in a school or office setting. Employee will be required to attend scheduled evening and weekend meetings and classes. This position requires flexible work scheduling to properly administer the program.
