Job Description

Who we are at Osmo:

Osmo is a digital olfaction company, on a mission to give computers a sense of smell to improve the health and wellbeing of human life. Why? Our sense of smell both enriches and saves lives, and has a deep and direct connection to our emotions and memory. Vision and hearing have been digitized, but not scent. It's time we solve this. We're bringing an unprecedented combination of software, data, hardware and capital to the historic challenge of giving computers a sense of smell.

We believe in the power of automation and carefully applied AI/ML to solve problems that are beyond what the unaided human mind can tackle on its own. In the first phase of our development, we are using our map of odor along with cutting-edge generative AI to create the next generation of aroma molecules (e.g., the ingredients in the fragrances we wear and the products we use). We're a hybrid company with a laboratory and center-of-mass in Cambridge, MA.

Your Role

Osmo is looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our rapidly growing team. Digitizing smell won't happen overnight. We are relentlessly focused on understanding customer problems and where we can create value on our path to achieving our mission. This role will own the strategy and execution of core product within our AI platform. You will work closely with Engineering, ML, and Osmo's Leadership Team, reporting to the Chief Product Officer.

Outcomes
  • Develop a deep understanding of the fundamentals of our beachhead market, our modeling capabilities, and how those two intersect.
  • Build a vision and business case for your product
  • Define and own the roadmap for executing against that vision
  • Define a clear set of objectives & key results (OKRs) and use them to drive accountability
  • Establish strong relationships and communication habits with your key stakeholders within Osmo to tackle hard problems quickly and openly
Competencies
  • Thrive in collaborative, fast-moving settings and work well across all levels of the organization
  • Integration of diverse, sometimes conflicting points of view into a decision, recommendation, or path forward
  • Breaking down large complex problems into discrete steps using strategic frameworks
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to changing teams and needs
  • Innate curiosity with a desire to understand how technology works and how it might help solve real problems
  • Relentless customer focus and commercial orientation
  • Fluency with machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Capable of being a thought partner to Engineering to prioritize models from an understanding of the customer and business objectives
  • Continuous prioritization of work based on a focus of using data to continually create value for our customers
  • Excellent, proactive communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple projects in a startup environment
  • Take ownership and accountability in your work, with a 'whatever it takes' attitude to chip in on other tasks as needed
  • Willing to do necessary tasks, even menial ones, with joy
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of software product management experience at a technology company
  • Demonstrated track record of building high-growth products from the ground up
  • Experience working with machine learning based products and the technical fluency required to partner closely with our ML/Engineering team
  • Nice to have: deep knowledge of sensors, chemistry, IoT; data analysis in Python; entrepreneurial experience
  • Willing to work in our office in Cambridge, MA 2-5 days a week or travel to Cambridge ~2 times a quarter to work with the team in person
  • US work authorization

Who you are:

  • You're Curious, Kind, Clear and Get Stuff Done. You have a first-class mind, and you want to stretch it.
  • You want to work on a nearly impossible goal that serves a deep human need, drawing on a wide diversity of knowledge and skill to achieve it. Where there's a gap, we explore it from first-principles and arrive at pragmatic solutions.
  • You want to work with curious, kind, results-oriented teammates on this adventure into the unknown.

At Osmo, we believe in the simple maxim, "be kind, get stuff done." If this role inspires you we'd encourage you to apply. We are committed to recruiting, developing, and retaining an incredible team optimized for a diversity of thought, background, and approaches. All employment decisions and responsibilities are determined based on current ability and your ability to grow, without regard to race, color, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, marital status, physical, mental, or sensory disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
