Position Summary

The Desktop Support team provides frontline technical support to end users and technical equipment within OrthoVirginia. This individual will be focused on various technical issues and problems related to hardware, software, and peripherals. The Desktop Support team must have excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose, evaluate and resolve complex problem situations or when appropriate escalate to the appropriate IT staff. This position will support multiple platforms including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and videoconferencing equipment both remotely and onsite as needed. The Desktop Support team position may require working independent, sharing information, and working together as a team to complete the tasks assigned. This individual may also be involved in larger (state) projects and tasks either individually or as part of a larger team.

Primary Functions Accountabilities

  • Respond to support requests while documenting the issue and resolution in ServiceNow Incident issue request system
  • While monitoring incoming requests the Desktop Support team can provide excellent customer service through quickly responding to requests received through ServiceNow or over the phone
  • Install, test, and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment, and software
  • Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone or through email as appropriate while engaging with OrthoVirginia staff or providers
  • Resolve technical issues including troubleshooting hardware and software issues onsite or remotely
  • Provide support to staff working remotely
  • Able to escalate issues that are not easily resolved by collaborating with other teams within the IT department
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • All other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills Abilities

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365, Citrix, Printing, and Scanning
  • Ability to follow verbal or written instruction as needed


Position Requirements

  • Associates Degree or higher in Computer Science and/or equivalent work or college experience preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience as an IT professional preferred
  • IT experience in a HealthCare field preferred
  • Must be able to work rotating on-call schedule
  • Must be willing to go to local office locations for tasks and /or troubleshooting as needed
  • Must have a vehicle and valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work after hours and on weekends as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
