Line Cook follows menu specifications and recipes to prepare and cook Oren's Hummus entrees, sides & dips, pita sandwiches and other foods for service in an institutional setting.A Line Cook typically works 32-38 hours per week but can work as few as 3 shifts per week if seeking a part-time position.We strive to provide opportunities to grow and prefer to promote from within - our Kitchen Supervisors are typically promoted from the Line Cook position.Requirements/ResponsibilitiesQUALIFICATIONS:Education and/or years of experience: High School diploma or its equivalent preferred Culinary School graduate preferred 1-2 years of related experienceCertificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Required California Food Handlers Certification (CA) Food Manager Protection Certification preferredESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Set up work station with proper tools, equipment and supplies according to kitchen standards Check production food schedule and daily pars and ensure that... daily production is organized, prioritized and on track Prepare meals and maintain portion control Inform management of any items/supplies needed for the day's tasks as necessary Rotate food items as necessary Inspect the cleanliness and working conditions of all tools, equipment and supplies Maintain knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment Maintain proper storage of all products as specified by health and sanitation codes Return all food items in clean containers to proper storage areas Clean food preparation areas and work stations, walk-in and shelves Turn off all equipment Transport dirty pots, pans to dishwashing station Restock any dry goods, fresh products, cooking wines used in production in the appropriate areas as needed All other responsibilities as dictated by the business or assigned by ManagementKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read, write and speak English Ability to work under direct supervision Familiar with restaurant cooking standard concepts, practices, and procedures Knowledge of safe food handling and preparation procedures Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of Employees Work under pressure within a well-integrated team environment Able to consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor Strong organizational and coordination skills A certain degree of creativity is requiredThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the people assigned to this job.
