Machine Operator-Multiple Roles/Shifts -ENTRY Level to Advanced

The Machinist, CNC position is responsible for operating CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) machines; such as Mills, Lathes, EDM and CMM machines to cut, drill, shape and finish quality products and components for the medical device industry.


  • Operate conventional, special-purpose and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines in a metal cutting environment to fabricate metal and plastic parts for the medical device industry.
  • Operate CNC equipment as follows:
  • Install cutting tools
  • Set tool offsets utilizing a tooling pre-setter or manual process
  • Load CNC programs as required, utilizing the DNC system or other program transfer devices upon request (additional on-the-job training to be provided)
  • Load raw material in machine
  • Adjust tool off-sets and speed/feed rates to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
  • Inspect product utilizing assigned gauging per the approved quality plan
  • Identify visual and cosmetic issues on parts during manufacturing process per customer specification
  • Adhere to all procedures, work instructions and forms per the Quality Management system
  • Review and understand processing documentation including:
  • Blueprint reading for manufacturing engineering drawings
  • Technical drawing specifications
  • Inspection requirements
  • Set Up Sheets
  • Machine Set Up Techniques
  • Sequence of operations documentation


  • Basic computer skills / Accurate data entry
  • Basic math skills – Add / Subtract / Convert to decimal / Convert from metric to inches and visa- versa / Use of calculator to complete these functions
  • Knowledge and experience in using hand held quality control inspection tools such as Micrometers, Calipers, Bore Gages, Depth Gages, Radius Gages, and Height Gages
  • Ability to operate, or the willingness to train on-the-job to operate 2 and 3 Axis machines
  • Ability to run multiple machines simultaneously
  • Detailed and thorough completion of shop work orders, inspection documentation, and daily maintenance sheets

  • Ability to work across departments to meet product quality standards efficiently
  • Strong listening skills
  • Neat and legible handwriting or printing
  • Ability to read, comprehend and communicate the English language
  • Effectively communicate with others, through both written and verbal communication
  • Regular and dependable attendance
  • Available and able to work overtime and weekends as required


  • HS Diploma or GED - Required
  • 2 years of applied machining experience in a metal cutting work environment - Preferred
  • Certification from a machine trade school - Preferred
  • Medical industry experience - Preferred
  • Lean manufacturing experience - Plus

  • Regularly siting and walking with frequent standing
  • Clear and audible speaking and normal range hearing capability
  • Corrected vison of 20/20 (With eyeglasses or contact lenses)
  • Frequent use of arms and hands to reach and grasp
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers to grasp and handle objects, tools, and controls
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
