Job Description

The Director of Children and Adult Ministries is responsible for developing, implementing, supervising and conducting a comprehensive ministry to the Adults and Children of Orange Park United Methodist Church. This program shall incorporate a program that encompasses the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being of children and families. The emphasis, for the time being, is on creating and growing a world-class children’s program and maintaining the current level of adult ministries. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must embrace Christian discipline and United Methodist doctrine and theology.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Children’s Ministry and/or 5+ years of equivalent Children’s ministry related experience.

  • Leadership abilities, and experience leading large children’s ministries.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster teamwork in a positive atmosphere with staff, volunteers and parents.

  • Ability to create a vision for the children’s ministry, set goals and strategically meet them.

  • Bible and/or theological training (preferred).

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Willingness to work a 45+ hour work week including off-campus events as necessary.

  • Oversee all Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programs for children up to 6th grade and adults.

  • Plan, implement and lead an effective and comprehensive program of children’s events including, but not limited to, managing a broad Sunday School program, developing and managing a mid-week children’s program, and various other outreach.

  • Maintain a comprehensive adult education program including, but not limited to, managing a broad Sunday School program and coordinating weekday studies.

  • Recruit, train, equip and manage volunteers to appropriately love, engage and encourage children and to fully staff all programs and events.

  • Oversee and produce all children and adult related publications, including newsletters, announcements, web-site content and adult and children marketing.

  • Understand, abide by and implement the Florida United Methodist Child/Youth Protection Policy.

  • Be an integral part of a ministry team that works closely together to support one another, set a high bar of excellence for the congregation and actively work to support one another in all areas of ministry.
