OCB is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to work in our Sandwich, Yarmouth & Wareham offices. We are willing to train the right person. This position is 4 days per week/32 hrs with great benefits.
An Ophthalmic Technician is responsible in gathering important patient medical history; perform visual screening and diagnostic testing prior to ophthalmologist's visit with patient. The technician will ensure that exam rooms are cleaned between patients, including sanitizing equipment.
Requirements for this position include: working knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the eye; understanding both the theory and the workings behind specific testing; and knowledge of systemic diseases and their impact on the eyes. Technicians must demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic biology
- Current CPR certification
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Alternative to minimum qualifications:
- Non-certified ophthalmic medical personnel with at least 1-4 years experience as an ophthalmic technician.
Typical Physical Demands:
Requires prolonged standing, walking, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires excellent communication skills and a keen understanding of patients with sensory impairment. Must be able to express a caring attitude while performing the tasks required with accuracy and efficiency. Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to perform necessary testing and reporting of findings.
