Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This exempt full-time position is part of our Administrative team that supports the entire organization. We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Senior Business Analyst. The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions. Senior Business Analyst responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities, and design. The Senior Business Analyst will develop analysis and reporting capabilities. They will also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements. This includes building reports using formats such as SSRS, Crystal Reports, Excel, and ad-hoc queries. Additionally, the Senior Business Analyst will be familiar with Microsoft SQL Server and data warehousing using SQL. The ideal candidate for this crucial position is detail oriented and can meet critical deadlines. Must have excellent communication and people skills.

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer

RESPONSIBLE FOR NO STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with executives and other business leaders to identify opportunities for improvement
  • The ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of critical business requirements
  • Create reports for internal teams and/or external partners
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data
  • Use graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions
  • Structure large data sets to find usable information
  • Work with a team of analysts and other associates to process information
  • Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • The ability to analyze data models to deliver logical conclusions
  • Developing innovative solutions for operational and strategic changes
  • Being proficient in inventing processes or systems needed to implement changes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with senior-level management regarding the implementation of changes
  • Sound knowledge and expertise in evaluating the implications of changes
  • Competence in writing reports and making presentations to highlight the effect of changes made
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for report creation using Crystal reports or similar report software, SSRS is a must
  • Knowledge of and experience with SQL or SQL-like programs
  • Knowledge of database tables
  • Data reporting / report writing
  • Must be customer service oriented

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • MS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics.
  • Five years’ experience in business environments and a thorough knowledge of computer architecture and interconnectivity

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software utilized by the agency. This knowledge must include some familiarity with current programming languages such as SQL, as well as current OS’ and a workable knowledge of MS Office applications and database software
  • Ability to create, modify and troubleshoot Crystal Reports
  • Ability to solve complex data problems with available tools and skills.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, and mouse or other data entry device.
  • Ability to communicate with technical support engineers.
  • Ability to communicate with end-users in a way that is meaningful and understandable to the user
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and make the best possible solution
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with speaking, hearing and writing skills.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Able to sit at a keyboard/desk for extended periods of time.
  • Able to differentiate between colors for screen definition.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands or arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 or more pounds. Specific vision abilities as required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to use multiple monitors at once.
