BI Engineer

You will modernize the firm’s proprietary portfolio of custom financial applications and data visualization projects. You will also develop custom systems, data integrations, and reports to support legal practice groups, staff departments, and system integration efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Relevant experience in BI development, reporting, and customization
  • Advanced SQL Server development skills - Development of Transact SQL stored procedures and tasks, and Performance Tuning and Data Modelling and Analysis
  • Database development and data warehousing using SQL. Migrate, convert, import/export data to and from SQL databases
  • Help with data architecture and technical data design for the financial accounting system (Elite 3E).
  • Experience with data analysis, modeling, creating technical documentation
  • Build data structures that are consistent, maintainable, and cost-effective
  • Develop SQL, T-SQL, views, stored procedures, and scripts to provide database components
  • Participate in SQL reviews, performance profiling, and performance tuning recommendations
  • Contribute to the design of solutions with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance
  • Communicate development best practices, at a code and project level, within the development team
  • Help educate, mentor staff members in techniques, methods, policies, and best practices to code
  • Identify improvements where necessary to existing practices related to application development
  • Oversee confidential, high-profile, or otherwise sensitive projects, users, and requests, keeping the Business Applications Sr. Manager or other personnel up-to-date
  • Provide second/third-level support for custom and third-party applications supported by the Business Applications team
  • Identify improvements as necessary for existing practices related to application development
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop efficiencies existing in processes through the use of application automation and integration
  • Remain current on relevant technologies and industry standards through networking, and training/education

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Microsoft IIS, relational database design, and SQL Programming including stored procedures
  • Analyze and program complex financial data sets
  • Understand SQL (MS SQL); experience writing complex ETL packages
  • Experience in financial report writing (SSRS Preferred)
  • Knowledge of data analysis, modeling, creating technical documentation
  • Excellent understanding of relational database concepts, and the influence of design on performance
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and data modeling best practices
  • Ability to provide solutions for complex problems and requests
  • Partner with individuals at all organizational levels and adapt to changing timelines and requirements
  • Experience with legacy ASP.NET and classic ASP custom applications
  • Work within an Agile development environment
  • Knowledge of Tableau visualization or similar BI tool and dashboard construction
  • Experience with Snowflake Data warehouse & Azure Data Factory is a plus
