Job Summary

The VP Reverse Mortgage Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer, is a member of the Sr. Leadership Team, and is accountable for the mortgage production process for all reverse loans. This includes managing the following teams: Processing, Underwriting, Closing & Funding, and Post-Closing. A key aspect of the role includes ensuring the continued efficiency and effectiveness of all related loan processes. This means making sure all team members are provided adequate training to perform their roles, managing performance by setting and clearly communicating performance objectives, holding individuals accountable for results, creating a sense of community for the department, budget management, and working with other departments to plan for and support continued company growth.

Job Duties

  • Manage Reverse Operations department to meet or exceed service level expectations for internal and external customers
  • Establish and track Key Performance Indicators to monitor workflow and assess performance and develop action plans to address underperformance
  • Ensure compliance with associated laws, regulations, and Company policies and standards
  • Develop short, mid, and long-term goals for improving processes and optimizing technology, lead organizational change initiatives with relevant stakeholders to secure buy-in and adoption, successful implementation, after-action reviews to solicit feedback and address any remaining issues
  • Ensure robust training programs exist to prepare staff to perform their roles
  • Regularly communicate to ensure that individuals can connect their role and team activities to overall goals and objectives for the Reverse Operations Department and Open Mortgage as a whole  
  • Foster a collaborative work environment in Reverse Operations which recognizes and values employees and contributes to a positive work experience
  • Coach and develop leaders to ensure bench strength and realistic succession options exist for key roles
  • Work in partnership with all other departments to achieve Company objectives
  • Keep attuned to changes and best practices in the mortgage industry and contribute to the setting of strategic direction and objectives of the Company as a member of Sr. Staff / Sr. Leadership Team

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages the team leaders who in turn manage all the staff in the Reverse Operations Department and is responsible for hiring, performance management, and compensation of staff. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related fields or equivalent industry experience
  • 12+ years of mortgage operations management experience - exposure and leadership experience with all areas of reverse operations
  • Experience with Underwriting
  • Significant experience with an IMB post 2008
  • Strong communications and listening skills
  • Familiarity with various lending technology systems
  • Experience with change management and process improvement (i.e., six-sigma or other proven methodologies), and focus on data / metrics measurement
