Job Description

SUMMARY

This Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting testing procedures and verification processes to ensure that the meals and products are packed safely, consistently, for highest quality, in correct quantity, and in the most cost-effective manner. Testing includes but is not limited to daily department audits, portion control audits, recipe audits, Finished Order Reviews, Daily Product Reviews, and other audits/verifications as the Quality team seems fit. The QC Tech will provide timely, useful reports to his/her supervisor. QC Tech will engage and encourage staff and volunteers to follow procedures and processes that support achieving these initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and organize daily record of audits performed and results

• Report quality anomalies and critical violations to Quality Manager

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedures and policies

• Ability to investigate a variety of situations and circumstances with effective root cause analysis and corrective action suggestions

• Ability to write reports on data collected

• Provide backup to other team members

• Monitor production lines to ensure efficiency

• Assist the Quality Assurance Director in maintenance and monitoring of HACCP program, portion control, yield tracking, substitutions, quality assurance errors, sanitation, downtime and other continuous quality improvement initiatives

• Maintain all quality related documents and records in a timely and organized manner

• Follow up on customer feedback

• Provide training and assist in assuring that all guidelines, procedures and policies are being followed

• Work with Operation’s managers to support necessary quality requirements of existing and upcoming programs

• Enforce GMPs

• Perform quality duties that encompass positive release, holds, release of holds, and defect investigations

• Identify possible areas for improvement in quality control processes

• Attend selected meetings

• Perform various work assignments in support of the department

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager and/or Director

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

• Bachelor’s degree in Culinary, Nutrition, Food Science, or related field is preferred

• ServSafe Manager Certification preferred

• HACCP Certification preferred

• Prior experience in the food industry

• Experience with change-over on the production floor

• Ability to comprehend, read, and write in English

• Ability to communicate to all staff and volunteers appropriately

• Ability to perform basic mathematical functions using units of U.S. money and weight measurement, volume, time, and distance

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and to stand for long periods of time

• Prior experience in the food industry

COMPENSATION

Compensation is based on qualifications and experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly exposed to chilled air conditions which may require extra layers of clothing to remain comfortable as well as various cleaning fluid fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
